Obviously it's longshot, & Hinkie likely calls our bluff because even if we take Russell, he still has Mudiay or a great problem to have figuring out how to use Noel, Embiid, & Towns/Okafor. But situations like this are a large part of why Mitch is playing mind games working out 6-8 guys when the entire world thinks we're taking whichever big Minnesota doesn't take.

On the outside chance Hinkie believes the smoke & wants to trade up for Russell, even if he won't give up Embiid/Noel, the package of 2nd rounders + Wroten is probably minimal enough for them to not want to risk missing out on their guy over.

I'm with you. He's definitely keeping the option open to see if Philly is willing to throw a sink at us for the #2 pick. If Philly is legitimately threatened by us taking Russell, I'd demand our pick back for next season. I don't need anymore picks this year, but having our 1st which is unfortunately likely to be a lottery pick gives us another solid asset in a trade.

#2 for #3/lottery pick is a good deal especially if we end up still getting Towns/Okafor.

If we had the 5 pick and someone offered us the #1 or #2 pick (with us keeping 5) for Randle, then I would consider it. But after the centers, there is no one in this draft I'd rather have than Randle. The possibility of having our frontline nailed down for the next decade is too good to pass up.

Kobe coming around feels nice. Good to see some of our guys get in the gym over there and eye the potential new talent. Damn that's got to be a lot of pressure on these young men.

I'm hoping Kobe will decide to stop on by when we are working out some of the guys for the #2 spot next week. Just to say a few words to the guys and get a feel, read on them.

I love Kobe in the elder mentor role and Clarkson showing up in the "This is going to be my team one day" scouting role.

I hope when the #2 pick workouts come up next week Kobe and Jordan challenge them in some way. Even if it's just a shooting game or something. I don't want anybody hurt, but I'd love to see Jordan and Kobe find a kid or two that has the fire. That's what I want them to find.

I want to find the Julius Randle fighter of this year's class.

I think that is what is happening or on its way to happening. Love Clarkson's game and mainly his attitude to improve...even if he talks like he is from the 70's or a character out of a Cheech and Chong flick.

Oh I definitely agree. I've said a few times that I don't want us to get too cute or overthink this. We should just take Okafor and keep it moving along.

Could see us taking Connaughton as a poor man's Hezonja. Wish we could swing Okafor and Hezonja somehow. I'll look at our guys we're bringing in for workouts and post their stats tonight.

Get this guy. Get him so if we strike out on sfs this free agency, it won't hurt as bad.

I've been on the Justin Anderson bandwagon for a while. Like him a lot.

Don't know a lot about Anthony Brown but he appears to be a great three point shooter.

If we landed Anderson and struck out in free agency, I'd just roll him out there as a starter. Why not? Let Randle, Okafor and Anderson learn in trial by fire. :D

We should promise Anderson that we'll pick him 27th so he can tank the rest of his workouts.

Justin Anderson looks very promising. Heck, if the Dubs can pick a Green, a Barnes...that type of player...maybe we can as well.
