Not sure about that. When dealing with legacy, no one is going to remember how bad the East was in 20 years. They will just remember how many rings a dude has or finals they played in. I mean, we're in the middle of the worst conference discrepancy in history, and the media spin is LBJ in five straight finals. In another decade, no one will remember he beat Teague, Milsap and Korver to get there. Or beat a Boston team with a losing record. Heck. There are some on this board that forget the Jordan era was pretty weak in comparison to the 80s and today.
I think it's an odds game. The East is absolutely wide open and everyone is seeing how easy it is for LeBron. If LeBron gets hurt, the East is YOURS if you're a star like Westbrook or Durant.
couldn't this same argument have been made for years? when's the last time it actually happened? word right now is that if they switch teams (big IF), Jordan, gasol, Aldridge, and love would all be in the west.

feel bad for Matthews. probably best for him to take a one-year deal with Portland at a figure that works for each after the dust has settled in FA. then he can try to prove he's healthy and cash in the following year. Portland would retain his bird rights, which could be useful depending upon how they use their cap space this year and next. I think rondo needs to go to sac. I don't think he's right for la, but it's one of the few places I could also see him landing, like it or not. fwiw, I think he's better than people are saying right now, though certainly not the rondo we saw a few years ago. harris scares me because he's a tweener, which usually just means undersized for the appropriate position (in this case, pf). I think his destiny is as a really good backup pf, sixth man type. you could probably get Orlando to balk at a lofty deal, but you don't really want him at that price point. the lakers certainly shouldn't, with randle already in the fold as a young pf.
I dunno, I actually really like Harris. We are in decent shape at the 4 but he played SF primarily for ORL last season and did a solid job. He turns 23 this summer, still a lot of room to grow.
^ If we end up with Towns in the draft, I'd take Harris at SF. Harris can create his own offense moreso than any other SF available in FA this summer. Carroll, Middleton, Kawhi, and Butler are all more defensive minded which is better if we end up with Okafor. I don't have faith that Towns can create offense right away, so we need a guy like Harris who can taek some of that load off of Kobe's shoulders.
Yeah I don't agree with that article. I wouldn't mind gambling on both Harris and Matthews. I'd go for Butler, Middleton, and Love first, but after that Harris is at the top of the list. Although he isn't my first option, Harris might actually be the best fit for us. He's a solid starting SF that can also play PF, & that last part is important for us because we really have no idea what we have with Randle.
Another example is the overall weakness of the West during the 80's. Helped Magic & Co. get to the Finals so many times (not that they wouldn't have in most of those years anyway). History only remembers all the Finals trips & titles, which I'm perfectly fine with.
I respectfully disagree with you. Lebron took the easy route by going to the Heat in the cruddy East, and lets be honest, if the Blazers were in the east theyd probably make it to the finals. Now, bails on Miami because he pretty much thought Wade was over the hill, and decided to go "back home", when really its because Irving is a boarderline MVP player, would lure Love and a ton of power to alternate team. So yes, in 20 years, I will tell it like it is, like i tell it now. Hes not Jordan, hes not Kobe. Never consistently went through the competition, not to mention the huge obstacles just to get to the finals, yet alone win the finals.So should you to knowledge somebody talking out of his behind.

Yeah Phil is going to leave within a year if he can't get the team he wants over there. I think he bit off way more than he could chew. Kerr probably took one look around that organization and left before the interview was over. Harris, I'm beginning to turn around on. I think he's got a lot of problems, but we need some dynamic play at SF.
