Right, not sure how you can argue that lockdown isn’t necessary because we can curb this with better testing or experimental treatments. But then say that it wouldn’t have made a difference if we started preparing earlier to bolster our testing infrastructure of have a head start on validating treatments.

    "I'm a registered Republican."

"I've donated 900 or whatever masks."

You sure have a perfect response for all your sympathetic b/s. What's next? You're working on the vaccine?

I know of people who have become severely ill because of these mistakes. I get what you're saying but Im not sure you're seeing my point. There are people who WOULD NOT have gotten sick if the proper measure where put in place. Not only by Trump, but by the CDC and local government

This guy is a child, and dangerous. I remember people saying what’s the worst that could happen when he was elected, well, this, this is the worst, him in charge during a pandemic.

It’s one thing to think that, but to say it out loud?

might just lose every vote in those states, but those incumbents might also not be re-elected due to ineptitude.

    guy has no filter

What’s the context. It’s only 20 sec. What is he saying or trying to say.

He’s saying he doesn’t bother calling the governors of Washington or Michigan because he doesn’t like them. They have gone with what doctors have been saying since the beginning and not him, so he doesn’t like them, he’s a child.

You know I'm not a fan of Trump, but whatever is going on between those two, the Huffington Post is going to take whatever quotes they need to make Trump look as bad as possible. He comes off childish, but we don't know what she's said to Trump. We just get the "high road" replies printed. I'm not trying to stick up for Trump in any way. The guy is a piece of s***. At the same time, any time I start reading about a Coronavirus story where fingers are pointing at the other political party, I just stop reading because I'm so sick and tired of this tragedy being turned into a political weapon for both sides.

To be honest, I have stopped following the news on this for the most part. I look at the headlines of the day for about 5 minutes in the morning and then I'm done. I was spending entirely too much time on r/coronavirus. I was starting to get freaked out...while I'm perfectly safe at home.

I’m not making anything a political weapon. Trump is the one concerned about voting going forward, more than about the virus I’d bet. I didn’t really see site bias there either, I found it a credible explanation, the only sources I won’t post are the big ones, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, New York Times, they all have insane bias and are a joke. All my point was about is Trump is a child and a moron and I really wish someone better and less petty and egotistical were in charge right now.

The full context is at the end of this Breitbart clip starting at 4 min 55 secs

In essence, Trump doesn't talk to either the Governors of Washington or Michigan since they don't like him. He let's Mike Pence call them instead.

I don't see anything childish in what Trump is doing. If somebody doesn't like you, it makes more sense to have to have somebody else in your administration make the call. Otherwise, the call is a waste of time.

He doesn't have time to waste on their foolishness and political agendas when he's trying to do what is best for the country as a whole. If leaders don't step up right now, then they aren't leaders and shouldn't be.

Wanted a career in politics? You're welcome to the greatest proving ground ever.

I get you, but I do find it a bit refreshing having someone in the office who is a straight shooter and isn’t just fulfilling a role that’s actually run by the lobbyists and special interests. He’s uncouth, rough around the edges, and says what’s on his mind as opposed to being a puppet and saying what he is told to say. That’s how I view the presidency, but hey that’s just me.

Strait shooter? Respectfully disagree completely considering his head in the sand comments for weeks beore the virus got here. Consider myself fairly conservative and am registered independent I found out this past local election ... thought it was Republican. :p But he was sure as hell not straight shooting the nation about covid-19 readiness or just inexcusably ignorant and not listening to the scientists.

There is a difference between a straight shooter and an a-hole. I lean right/libertarian. I voted for Romney and Bush twice. SO I would like to be happy with Trump in the White House. But Trump being a jerk to people isn't being a straight shooter. He's just an A-hole. I am a straight shooter. I tell people what I think and how I feel about things. People don't think I'm an a-hole though.

We as a country were asking the right questions last election.

    Why don't things change?
Why do we keep voting in these lifelong politicians?
Do these people have our best interests at heart?

These are good questions that we should be asking. But then Trump came in and capitalized on a fractured Republican party with 10 candidates and formed his message around those questions. A lot of people were duped into thinking he was the answer to our questions. Trump was the wrong answer to the right questions.

I love this quote. And I'll add, for all his flaws, hes still better than Biden or Bernie and will win again.

    Yeah great quote.

My take is that Trump’s presidency has made me question whether we need to be asking those questions. That maybe crawling back to establishment politics might offer more stability and short term policies that help a good number of Americans incrementally.

Which is obviously not the correct approach. We do need to be asking the questions of why our politics has failed us so we can figure out a new way forward.

But when we have a petty egomaniac whose lack of preparedness is exacerbating a terrible crisis, I do start to think that maybe a senile old man being puppeteered by corporate democrats might be the lesser of two evils.

My main concern there is the same one I had with Hillary. I fear Biden’s presidency will usher in complacency. For example, they’ll give us some half baked public option for healthcare and point to how many more people it’s insured, maybe cancel some student loan debt. They’ll essentially buy our loyalty while slyly continuing to enact policies that enable corporations to keep us under their thumb.

So when I think of it like that, I start to wonder if 8 years of getting entrenched in that is really better than putting up with 4 more years of Trump. Maybe it’s better in the long term to have Trump continuing to burn things down for the next 4 years and pray that someone more capable emerges in 2024 who can truly change things.

It’s mind boggling that these are the choices we’re given when the country and world is at such a crossroads.
