"Three things the virus does not like: 1. Sunlight, 2. Temperature, and 3. Humidity," Nicholls said in response to a question about when he thinks confirmed cases will peak.

"Sunlight will cut the virus' ability to grow in half so the half-life will be 2.5 minutes and in the dark it's about 13 to 20 [minutes]," Nicholls said. "Sunlight is really good at killing viruses."

The summer won't kill the virus, but there's plenty of evidence to suggest it could help slow it down. We have to hope that's the case to buy some time as it most certainly will return in the fall.

Every morning now, when I wake up i'm like, "Ok, how bad is it today?"

Side note: The Olympics have not been postponed yet. So if it still goes on as scheduled (in late July) how would that work if the NBA season starts up again in late June (best case scenario)? Or do you guys think players will go ahead and play for USA Basketball if the NBA season hasn't resumed?

I don't know. I think they will want a full slate of playoff games to try and recoup as much money as possible.

That may work if the Covid-19 scare is still keeping people indoors. If the severity of the outbreak goes down, people are going flee their homes and go on summer vacation. That's why the NBA holds the finals in early to mid-June, before the country goes on summer break. If the Finals is being held in July or August, it may not do so well.

things won't go back to normal until at least may or june in my opinion. and that's just a generous guess

LA closing all bars, restaurants, etc is a huge step in the right direction but if other cities don't do the same then it won't make any difference

It's actually a mandate for all of California by the governor, not just Los Angeles. So it's a good thing. All of CA must do the same.

Unfortunately, all this talk about a 15 day lockdown is completely unenforceable. People are still being dumb. As long as even half the population remains dumb, this won't go away.

True. I think I just want someone to blame for the season being suspended. He felt like the right outlet.

i believe the governor "recommended" that bars, restaurants, etc shut down

LA just went ahead and required it

I think 72 games works. If they play the playoffs without decreases, then they will need to eliminate 3 and 4 days in between games. They will need to play every other day no matter what.

This is the problem right now. Conflicting info.

The expert I listened to explicitly said it's mostly a myth that viruses go away when the weather gets warm. Most go away once enough people have had it and developed antibodies so it's not passed around as much.

I guess we'll have to wait and see

At least the Clippers' most promising season ever is getting completely derailed.
