Can we sign him to a 10-day contract? How can we bake incentives into his contract so that he doesn't screw around?

I'm just tryin to see if we can Dwight Howard his contract up a bit to make sure he stays in line....

Smart, having the workout after all the buy outs are finalized so you have a clear look at the market.

Seems we're looking for more toughness. That secures Dudley's spot.

    seems counterintuitive

a team just paid him big money to never set foot in their facility

Hard to think he's experienced a transformation ala Dwight in such a short period. Might need to year to rethink his life. But I think it's clear the Lakers aren't in a hurry if they aren't even setting a meeting until the Date they know who else is available. They know he's not going anywhere. We have zero concerns of anyone stealing him away.

I don't get what is so special about this guy.

He was 31st in his recruiting class... which is good but nothing amazing.

He led a Syracuse team to the final four where their biggest claim to fame was beating Frank Kaminsky's Wisconsin by a point. But although the team's record was good... he only averaged 12.6 pts a game.

His eFG% in the pros is 46.8% which is worse than Lonzo's career shooting. He shoots free throws below 70% He has a 1.5 to 1 assist turnover ratio.
He has negative advanced stats and was bottom 10 RPM for shooting guards

    I don't f*cking get it

That player just has to have been released or bought out from their prior team by March 1st. Any player that is already a free agent by March 1st could be signed up to the last day of the season and still be playoff eligible. So for example, we could sign Waiters or JR Smith in April and they’d be playoff eligible.

Thanks HJ. Am surprised a player could be added that late and good to know. So if Daniels was going to be released let's say .... and the Lakers didn't want to screw him out of the chance to catch on with a team wanting him for the playoffs .... as Lakers typically try to do right by their players .... we should know by March 1st. I would think.

    Or not. :p

The thing about Waiters is, our guys are going to talk with him and I imagine that includes all the coaches, Rob and AD/Lebron.

They will gauge him and decide if he is a fit or a hindrance. You never know what went on with him previously. Trust me when I say that all our guys will talk with everyone that used to work with him. If they determine that he is worth the risk, then so be it, I will trust our guys. If he is a cancer and we don't go with him, then I trust that too.

I think the Lakers are actually making really solid character decisions. I really like the character of the guys we have now. WAY BETTER than the guys we had during Jimbo's reign of terror!

The only thing in hindsight that I hate in the Kiwi pursuit saga, losing Wagner and Bonga for nothing

Kuzma is most impacted by AD's presence. AD gets all the passes from LBJ that Kuz used to get. If AD were injured for ten games... you could play Kuz... up his trade value and then get something decent for him.

Kuzma can still make his off ball runs but not while AD is in his way. In the same way Ingram was redundant while LBJ is here... Kuzma serves no purpose unless he can up his three ball numbers.
