But what if Giannis decides to join the Lakers and AD since we will have the cash to sign him withourt Ingram on the books? That will be pretty amazing. On the other hand, Giannis and AD won't produce as many stats as all the players we gave up in the trade combined, so that's still a failure. Am I doing this right?

    No, that's not quite right.

AD is a Ben Wallace with offense therefore Ingram is a Tayshaun Prince with a bit more offense and less defense.

If you combine Giannis, Doncic, or Dame with AD... the two top five player no depth formula might work because of the combination of playmaking with elite closing skills.

If you combine anyone else I'm not sure it does.

The most successful team in history had a bunch of players averaging in low double figures and defeated our combination of West/Baylor... and then West/Baylor/Chamberlain over and over again.

So sure, if we can sign one of those three it might offset the depth.

Have you been watching our old players on the Pelicans? That team is a center away from being extremely difficult to beat.

If Kuz steps up in the playoffs and with AC virtually playing as well or better than Lonzo as an all around player and more consistently .... are you still going to be crying the blues about the kids we lost?

I'll be happy we won and enjoy the moment... but we won't be better off long term.

If we sign one of those above mentioned three, I will be happy for the long term.

Have you been watching our new players on the Lakers? That team is extremely difficult to beat and a true contender right NOW.

There is like one example in the NBA history of a champion not constructed around stars, and believe nie, it ain't the '60s C Bags lol.

The Spurs were a Ray Allen shot away from beating the Heat twice.

I mean, Duncan, Parker and Ginobli were past their prime, but it's not like they were role players at that point.

I think we know and have even seen this season that a team full of well balanced players and depth can give two top five or top ten players fits.
Other than Duncan... none of the Spurs you'd trade for six assets... and I'd even have trouble trading that much for Timmy

I have endlessly complimented Rob on his recovery from the Kawhi debacle by making mostly good signings... it's not like I criticize everything.

If we bring back Dwight and Boogie... if we address our lack of a reliable third option... if we can convert expiring assets into picks or young players with potential then there still are paths to success.

But AD and old LBJ need help. Next season will be more brutal with GSW coming back

there was some other guy on that team, too, right? funny name. multi-time finals mvp. feel like he was involved.

and lol at the 60s C Bags examples. most of those teams had 6 or 7 hofers on them. yeah, that's great balance!

If you win multiple titles... you tend to get consideration for the Hall of Fame even if you average less than 20 PPG.

West and Baylor were better individually than anyone on the C Bags. Chamberlain was better individually.

    Yet they lost every time.

LBJ and Wade were better individually than anyone on the Spurs at that point in their careers.

Of all the arguments I hate the most it's when people say lazily two top five players will win. You still need a good team. The Bulls needed Rodman... Ron Harper... Kukoc... even Steve Kerr. The Heat needed Ray Allen. We probably need DRose.

I'm still hoping Kuzma explodes... I'm hoping Caruso finds the confidence to shoot... I'm hoping Dwight starts making his free throws... I'm hoping Vogel lets our shooters actually shoot threes instead of our stars.

But until those things happen, I'm not feeling great.

I mean it’s comical in that there are a LOT more unknowns and things that need to break “right” in all your preferred scenarios. Fact.

There was a center in the seventies named Bob Lanier... great defense... top ten scorer but never won anything. Probably would have been considered a top five or ten player

I would have been pissed if we traded everyone for Bob Lanier that we traded for Kareem. And we traded less for Kareem than we did for AD
