We are finally enjoying a great season after years of sucking. And we would like to keep enjoying it, regardless of what happens in the playoffs, because it's actually refreshing. Realizing there's a Lakers game tonight and, well... you're actually excited about watching it, you know?

We all know the team is not perfect and some changes could be made to improve our playmaking and wing defense/scoring when Bron is out. That's not a reason to turn this awesome season into a season of doom, that's all.

I agree, but what happened to PM as a first resort? If I get called out from someone I respect on the site staff, I will surely take a step back and consider what information has been shared. I'm not seeing the mocking approach being effective I guess. It would be senseless to lose a member over something a PM could have solved.

I know I've personally been a crapton fun to be around when I have tough personal stuff going on, so my first thought is actually wondering if "x" person is ok if their posting style or tone has changed. But then again, LVBD is me, so it's just me with one of my moods. Suckas.....

I get your concern. But, I could ask, do some really need to constantly harp on everyone who is not down on the construction of the roster like they are?

I see what you are describing as mocking as an attempt by most here to respond to that harping in a mostly light-hearted way to try to point out that compared to the last seven years, this team does not completely suck, and why not find some enjoyment from it.

Do some occasionally go too far with that response to the harping? Probably. I may have as well. But, at worst it's not intolerance, but disagreement.

I suppose this is a good opportunity to remind everyone to keep your responses to posts you disagree with focused on the post, not on the poster.

So basically what you’re saying is..you’ve finally after all these years learned a lesson from the Chicano incident. It takes a big man to step up and say that sort of thing. Taste the rainbow my friend. :p

Honestly, when you lose a playoff series is a totally normal time for doomsday meltdowns. When you’re in 1st in March isn’t. Feel like the difference is easy to detect.

hence, I’m not sure what the whole “receipts” crusade is even about.

Couldn’t agree more. I can’t imagine anyone arguing with doom posts if we lose in the playoffs. Let’s play the games first though.

eh, i can imagine arguing with them, but i won't be as befuddled by them.

anyway, i'll just pre-wmc for when this place blows up tomorrow when we lose the getaway game to the allstar break at denver.

folks, denver is good at home. we're actually one of the few teams that has beaten them there this year. it's an expected loss. just like at philly (who's 25-2 at home!), at boston (22-5), and at milwaukee (25-3) were also expected losses. the lakers are a big opponent for these teams. their fans are excited, and the players are excited. they're almost all nationally-televised games. if the lakers won them all, it would be super awesome, but pretty much nobody does this. ever.

I find that if you disapprove of the way the team used our assets that it goes down about as well here as an atheist trying to express their opinion in a church.

This is why I stopped posting in Game Time and cut down on posting in general.

This is why I also used the analogy of a private club vs. a public message board and have tried to keep this in mind while posting.

You guys have a tight knit community... most of the regulars agree with each other not only about basketball but about politics as well.

When in Rome you do like the Romans... so I will continue to be mindful of that, but personally I think if we keep attacking those with contrarian opinions there's not going to be much left to debate at all.

I appreciate that people recently have tried to be more patient with my posts but I still think it's really hard to have any opinion other than those of the dominant board orthodoxy.

It's a shame because every good sports show usually has two hosts who play devil's advocate with each other.

If everyone agrees with each other, I suppose it's more pleasant in some ways but I also think something is lost as well.

I apologize for picking on anyone too much over the past few days. I just want to add this because a couple of posts briefly touched on this. There is definitely a shift in the discussion in this place. I have changed and I can say that with certainty.

Kobe's passing definitely has changed my outlook in life. One of these being how I view basketball. Looking back at all those highlight reels and tributes reminded me of so many good times rooting for the Lakers. I'm hungry for that now, and I know everyone here is. The need to improve the team is born out of this hunger. But it also reminded me of all of the minute details I used to b**** about during the Kobe-era, and it highlighted how stupid that energy was to me. What we have now can literally be gone tomorrow. Savor the flavor my dudes.

There are some good basketball minds around here who contribute to meaningful criticism and discussion of the Lakers. I don't want to drive anyone away, just have the conversation go somewhere new. Debate is the lifeblood of sports talk, but lately the discussion hasn't progressed. In the words of Shaq, "it's supposed to go 1, 2, 3. Not 1, 2 back to 1".

I do understand what you’re saying, but like those same sports talk shows, people tune out after hearing the same argument over and over. I think posters here are actually very receptive to different lines of thought, but eventually it wears thin. I think what some of us ask is just to not repeat the same thing. If you know you’re debating with someone that fundamentally disagrees, why bring it up? If you let it go sometimes, you might find you eventually agree.

I vaguely remember disagreeing with @abeer3 on a lot over the years. Recently, we seem to agree on a lot. I only bring it up to point out that most aren’t opposed to disagreement and don’t hold personal grudges. We can disagree and move on, it’s just when things keep getting rehashed that we get frustrated.

And I personally resent your insinuations that Lakersball is lockstep in their opinions because we’re familiar with one another. Rather than accepting you have “some” opinions that a lot of people here on their own, independently thinking, simply don’t agree with. It’s annoying you will not accept that rather than now again months later playing your “Borg” card yet again. Screw that.

And the repetition aspect of what you do as mentioned in @wallangong ’s post above. That’s the facts of the matter, not your “private club ganging up on you” spin.

    Naw, I navigate between forums.

I left for LG at that particular time.

    Not permanently.
