When they got to the Remembrance segment where Academy members who have passed are remembered, Kobe’s picture was the first one displayed tonight.
It's incredible how strong she has been through all this. She's the public face of that family now and some people will look to her to how to act next and she's been so strong. Man.... I thought I ran out of tears.
So young to be widowed. Can you imagine someone ever trying to take Kobe’s place? Good luck with that.
As horrible as I have felt for Kobe and Gianna being gone, plus the others so unfairly taken as well, there has been something I couldn't put my finger on what it was, that I was really feeling the worst about. It hit me while watching the Lakers two games ago. We've always as Lakers fans said there will never be another Kobe to root for like we did him. We started with him right out of high school at 17 years old. But I'm sure I'm not alone in that I was already ALL OVER the chance to actually have a 2nd opportunity for that kind of fandom with becoming aware of Gianna Bryant and the story of Kobe with all his love for her and her wanting to learn every thing she could from him. At the age of 14 you could tell she had IT. Being that she accepted and was hungry for all that he would teach her about the mental aspect and the skills of the game. She would have been a superstar back court player in college and professional and Olympic basketball and would have done so much for women's sports, especially the WNBA. What a fabulous story that was going to become. It truly would have been like a 2nd Kobe to follow and root for as she got better and better and better. Her celebrity would have known no boundaries as well. I'm so going to miss not having her to follow as a star athlete, and still Kobe's involvement in the world of sport because of their relationship.
All these years and I did not have an inkling Bryant likes to drink given how meticulous he is about his body and how it would affect his workout regimen. Kind of like along the lines of Ray Allen and cheeseburgers something like that...
I posted above the realization of what was saddest of all to me and will never leave. We did not get to see Gianna Bryant's career in basketball and her life story unfold, along with Kobe .... still involved so heavily in the sport with her going forward for sure. And all the other things of course he had in his future. Here is a worthy glimpse of what there is no doubt it would have looked like with Gianna. We had Kobe as a Laker from just under 18 years of age for his 20 year career. We would have had Gianna from 14 years old going forward ..... now that we were all aware of her and the Youtube clips already chronicling her exploits. https://www.latimes.com/sports/ucla...-ducks-basketball-sabrina-ionescu-kobe-bryant
