I think we'll try Randle at the SF; but I do agree, I like him being the first big off the bench. It will also give him time to transition to the NBA instead of being thrust into a position of starting right away. As much as I like Randle, he's coming off a broken leg, and he needs to be brought along slowly.
Melo - 22.8 Monroe - 15.8 Calderon - 7.4 #4 - 3.3 TH JR - 1.3 Early - .845 cap holds - 3 Even if they don't pick up team options/extend qualifying offers to Shved, Wear, Galloway, Acy & renounce the rights to all other FA's, they're already over 55M just adding Monroe. Cap is 67M. Love isn't signing anywhere for 12M. Only way they can afford Love is not signing Monroe or finding someone willing to take on Calderon's salary without sending any back.
"[I've] definitely matured so much as a player being in this organization, being around Pop, Timmy, Tony, Manu [Ginobili], those are true professionals," Green said in June 2013, via USA Today's Sam Amick. "And also the opportunity. Pop gives us young guys a great opportunity to show what we can do." The Spurs put Green in position to succeed, and that's exactly what he did. But because his success happened in San Antonio, it comes attached with a fascinating—and perhaps damaging—asterisk. League executives aren't sure whether it can be replicated outside of the Alamo City. "Green is perhaps the most divisive free agent of the summer in league circles," Grantland's Zach Lowe wrote. "Lot of execs would scoff at giving him a deal in the $10 million range; the phrase 'product of the Spurs system' is thrown around a lot. ... But Green is no longer just a system player who mooches wide-open threes." ://bleacherreport.com/articles/2473263-breaking-down-danny-greens-fascinating-free-agent-case Good read on Danny Green's impending free agency
not sure if its been posted or how feasible it is.. but i keep hearing jimmy butler's name.. and would like to get him
Do you think they cant ship calderon for a second or if they have to, trade their second plus calderon either for any player or even a lower second rounder coming back? We need to do something similar w/swaggy to open up further cap space if we have a serious convo with him, along also with where his head and game is at currently. If its iffy, I trust Mitch. If he can be close to our jamal crawford, the 5 $ is worth it IMO. I also wouldnt be shocked if he starts at SF to space the floor.
Totally agree. People think WE had a hard time getting FAs last year or will have a hard time this year? What does NY have to offer? Who really wants to be in NY that bad? Even without the pick we've got Clarkson and Randle. Who does NY have? Galloway? Hardaway Jr? Whoopty doo. Throw IN the Top 2 pick and we've got a young core, enough cap space for a complete overhaul, oh and the greatest franchise in the sport's history. We've got a LOT more going for us this summer and we're not likely to attract top-level talent like Love, Gasol, or Aldridge. I'll put it this way: WE will be lucky to get first tier guys like Love, Aldridge, or Gasol. THEY will be lucky to get 2nd/3rd tier guys like Harris and Monroe.
I wouldn't mind Danny Green. I really thought he was more of a 6-7 million kind of guy though because I think he IS a system player in some respects. But here he would provide good defense, decent athleticism, but more importantly great shooting to space the floor for our big man duo/Kobe. He'd be a veteran in the locker room, the only player on our team with Championship experience, and a good fit for the franchise.
As long as it's for 6-7 million because I don't think there is any doubt he is a system player. We would also have Green, Brown and Black on the same roster. We REALLY need to sign Vander Blue to a 10 Day at some point during the season because...well...colors. Get Michael Redd to come out of retirement on a 10-Day as well.
I'd love Danny Green as a second choice to Carroll. He is a solid defender, and will get a ton of open looks playing with Kobe, JC, Okafor and Randle.
All we truly need from our SF is lockdown D and a reliable shooter. Clark/Kobe/Randle (might come off the bench if we land one of the big dogs/Okafor are players that can create on their own and can score. Only so many touches to go around. Use houstons first, our second ,brown to move up for Dekker Clark/? Kobe/swaggy Dekker/swaggy Randle/kelly Okafor/black Still a boatload of cap space.
I would spend the money on a SF and Monta Ellis. I think we can get both for 22mil. Ellis/Clarkson/ pick Kobe/Swaggy/Ellington and Brown SF/pick Randle/Kelly Okafor or Towns/Black The other way i would go is for a SF, Lin and a defensive center like Asik, this might be realistic, because i dont think, that Lin will get more then the full midlevel from any team.
a SF and PG like Dellavedova is a perfect summer for me. a PG with hard defence, solid 3 pt shooting and solid plays.
It should be a rule that you get banned for wanting Dellavediveatyourknees on the Lakers. Without the antics yes, but with the 3 incidents just this playoffs, don't want him.
He's currently residing in my most disliked player file. Those dirty plays were disgusting. How is this guy not getting fined or suspended? Those are not "basketball plays" as the NBA likes to say.
Anyone interested in Afflalo? He had a down season last year, but was playing banged up. He is scheduled to make around 7.8 million next year on a player option, so I could see him opting out. Maybe we make a pitch to him as a sort of homecoming type situation and make it a 2 year 20 million dollar deal? He's a solid defender and shoots well from downtown. He's a smart player too. Not saying I want him. Just throwing him out there since I haven't seen much chatter about him. He could be valuable for us if he returns to Pre-Portland form.
