We haven't really drafted a solid wing defender a la an Ariza, Iggy type. Hart was okay, but even he was on the shorter side and didn't have the length to guard the bigger wings like Derozan or Klay. A big SG that can defend well would be a solid addition.

we have a pretty full roster of contracts through next year, and some decent talent in the wings in the G League

With ring chasing vets sure to want to join us, I don't think the draft will play much of a role for us the next few years. However, the ability to stash guys in the G League is BEYOND huge, and our staff has been great at finding solid picks. Tons of our picks are in the league. It's impressive.

I am watching this kid Matisse Thybulle right now who was drafted 20th by the 76ers; a 4 year collegiate player at Washington, and he's contributing.

Hd looks very good - this is what I am hoping we draft next year.

Mo Wagner's brother Franz is playing Oregon right now.

Exciting game... didn't know Mo had a brother who played.

Wonder if we can swap our 1st for a future 1st during the draft this year. We don’t have space for a youngster, and adding a first could open up trade possibilities later.

Great wings never come in the later rounds. Barely come in the top 10. Those usually come in the top 5.

not really even looking for great, just like a solid defender is all. Jimmy Butler was drafted 30th, Draymond the second round. The draft is a crapshoot. We’ve had 3 straight 2nd overalls and none came out the gate “great.”

Hart, Kuzma, Dejounte Murray, Siakam, LNJ, Looney, Bogdan, Joe Harris, Gobert, Roberson, Butler, Bojan, Whiteside, Taj Gibson, DM Carroll are players drafted 26 to 30ish just in the last ten years.

We selected three of them so good value can be found.

i think we have this year's. we can trade it on draft night right after we make it. if we're strategic about it, we can place it in the middle of our pick uncertainty to try and make it less cloudy. i don't have time to run through the possibilities. but if some team outside the first round really loves someone, we can try to capitalize on that.

it would honestly be my plan A. plan B is also good: let our scouts pick another late 1st gem.

There’s something unjust about Golden State slotted at the #1 draft pick at this time.

I didn’t realize LaMelo is now 6’8”, at point guard. Dang.

I saw one mock draft (CBS I think) that had us taking Cassius Winston from MSU. I was actually wondering how he’d fare in the draft. Limited ceiling as he doesn’t have great height or athleticism, but he can shoot, create for others, and seems to be just an all around good basketball player.

This is likely all an exercise in futility as we usually end up drafting someone we least expect, but our scouting has been great so I trust them with whatever.

i wouldn't be mad. guys with his general profile have had varying degrees of success over the past few years. the high end (unlikely) would be a kemba walker type, low end would be shabazz napier? or, i guess, out of the league. davonte graham's had more success than i expected, and i feel like they have a similar profile, no?

I think he’s closer to Graham than Napier in style, but I understand what you’re saying in terms of how his game translates to the league. Napier is more of a SG in a PG body. What I’ve seen of Cassius is more of a floor general that can also create for himself. He has the potential to be what we want Rondo to be. Not as athletic as young Rondo and doesn’t make the flashy passes, but he usually makes the right plays. Don’t know much about his defense, but my guess is his IQ would allow him to be solid in the right defensive scheme.

I've seen some useful big wings picked in 2nd rd, like Bates-Diop in Minn, Covington was either a 2nd rder or undrafted gleague call up (i forget)...they can be found but we just have to live with whatever else they might be lacking in talent...these types of players aren't going to do everything we'll need but just need solid D and a few 3's a gm would be more than enough
