Atlanta is soooooo bad when Young sits and don't have a real backup PG. I think Teague even mentioned before the year started that he's better off in short spurts after some injuries, so I don't see him complaining too much about being the backup. I'm sure they'll go small and play them together at times, so his playing time shouldn't go down much. He's also expiring so he can help mentor Young for half a season and then either re-sign for much less or he's off the books. I actually like the move for ATL.

not sure what houston offers that gets it done. dallas has a lot, but they're overperforming and aren't contenders even with covington (imo). philly would have to give up an important piece, too.

i mean, why not? they traded jimmy butler for him and stuff we don't see on their roster anymore, right? and he's playing well. they should be asking a lot. problem is that teams that want him don't have a lot to offer.

Portland has traded Kent Bazemore and Anthony Tolliver and two second- round picks to Sacramento for Trevor Ariza, Wendell Gabriel and Caleb Swanigan, source tells ESPN.

was bazemore underperforming that much? because ariza has been, and i think he's got a player option next year.

i don't know what a wendell gabriel is. maybe that's something?

Ariza’s 2020/2021 contract is only partially guaranteed for 1,8 if waived by June 30.

Portland is desperate to get under their tax threshold. Hassan should be the next to go.

Ariza was a terrible contract for the queens that made no sense, especially when they decided to play the kids again and remove the vets from rotation (same as the year before). He has been a net negative defensive on his past three stops, but all three have been terrible teams. As a contender, I think he still has value.

I wouldn't pass on Trevor Ariza for next season, tbh. He's still capable of being a serviceable player off the bench to sub in for LeBron. If we can get him for vet minimum, we should go for it. He's a good shooter, decent defender, and still can give you a solid 10-15 minutes. I don't think he's in the right position or environment to be motivated. It sucks but that's the truth. Look at a guy like Dwight. If he can turn himself around, Ariza shouldn't be counted out. He was awesome for the Rockets.

Is he still up to any kind of level in the same ball park of what he used to be with where his physicality and athleticism are now?
