not to mention they've already burned themselves by having too many picks in their pocket. you can only sensibly use so many. this is part of why i didn't want to move young for more non-top picks.

Young is our last productive vet to keep us competitive in the remaining games given how shaky our young core is.

Bringing in 2 young players too an unexpirenced team is enough. What the hell is philly going to do with all this picks, ask Silver to add another team to the league - Youngphilly.

Glad we didn't trade Nick. I think that would have been a mistake to just give him away for a 2nd rounder or two.

Every team needs a shooter, and I still think we can resign him on a good contract

They might, but if no one has moved yet, we may have the inside track if we go quickly. I'd really like that team.

The groundwork for PG is well underway. Other superstars see what we're going to be about with the new regime. Excited about the direction thus far

"Allegedly" I don't see any sources. Trading season could be fun this year. I'm sure we'll be in all kinds of rumors.

Given the fact that Vogel isn't playing Cook at all I think this has legs.

NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers Interested In DJ Augustin Amid Darren Collison Report

The Los Angeles Lakers are aware of the fact they need a new backup point guard since the play of Rajon Rondo has gotten increasingly insufficient.

Because of this, they need someone who can dribble the ball and create shots for others when LeBron James isn’t on the floor and one potential fix to this could be D.J. Augustin.

Augustin is in his 11th season with the Magic being his eighth NBA team. Despite the journeyman type of movement Augustin has had in his career, he has actually been a very useful player wherever he goes. While his shooting percentages aren’t high, he averages 10.5 points and 4.8 assists while coming off the bench for the Magic. The Lakers likely have other targets ahead of Augustin (such as Darren Collison), but this would not be a bad way to go if a trade can be made.

The Lakers have inquired about a number of potential veteran backup point guards and one potential target could come onto the trade market in the coming weeks: Orlando guard D.J. Augustin. The Lakers can’t trade a second-round pick until 2023, but the team does have rookie Talen Horton-Tucker, originally drafted by Orlando before he was traded to the Lakers, on hand.
Point Guard Help is Lakers’ Top Need
The Lakers have a number of holes to fill, including a versatile wing defender and more 3-point shooting. But James has had to carry too much of a burden at the point guard spot and the team is adamant about getting help at the position.

The Lakers get 38.4 points per game from players categorized as guards, according the NBA (James counts as a forward), and that ranks 29th in the league. They get 10.1 assists per game from their guards, which is last in the league.

Would the Lakers need to cut or move to someone to make room for a FA like Collison? Or is it just a G-league designation for someone?

    Here is a good explanation:

Here's a look at what we have right now.

    roster.png

so If I understand this correctly, we do have a spot due to the DeMarcus injury. Nobody has to be cut. If we want Iggy and Collison, then a move must be made. (Just as an example) Either trade or release, etc.

We absolutely need a PG who can create, dribble and shoot some (but doesn't have to be a great scorer). So, if we can get DJ, I am all for it. He's a veteran who knows what needs to be done.
