Groans don't heal quick. Groundhog Day? At least we got a win for Christmas last year. Eff me.

The wheels haven't fallen off... this still is a very good but albeit flawed team.

However, it's not bad luck when you have one star who tends to miss a decent amount of games every season and another one who is aging. It's something more like a statistical probability.

Injuries were predictable. A well designed team can withstand injuries and compete... if we lose either of them for any significant time, we will lose ground. If we lose either of them in the playoffs we will have a quick exit.

This is the downside to putting all your eggs in two baskets.

Can it work? Sure... but it requires significantly more luck than a deeper team not reliant on two players.

yeah, sorry--i'd registered my real WMC so many times already that i forgot to do so here: we knew not to play lebron (or AD, really) in yesterday's game. now we get to lose several winnable games in the next few weeks because we couldn't resist "making a statement" or somesuch.

not a single "well-designed" nba team can play the schedule we just played with the injuries we had and win.

and which are these teams that don't have all their eggs in "two baskets"? denver? lol. they're not winning anything, and even they know it. clips: two baskets. houston: two baskets. this argument is incredibly flimsy, and i think you know that.

    but here you are.

btw, are ingram's injuries also expected? asking for a friend.

no, i'm on media blackout and about to be on message board blackout. what i see in the freeze frame there is a game tied at 103 with 4 minutes left...which is not what the narrative suggests.

edit: watched, and...looks like guys that can and have hit open threes in clutch situations all missed in the same game. super unfortunate. quite frankly, if i'm the clips today, i'm thinking we escaped with an undeserved win.

think they can just leave those three guys wide open for that many looks and win routinely?

the AD foul on lou was the beginning of the end for them last night

not sure why he was given FTs when the foul happened well after the layup went up. and you can't fault AD given that his momentum simply carried him into lou

The last 3 minutes of the half - we ran Kuz, KCP, and DG, with LBJ and AD, and we looked incredible.

The difference is that our two baskets plan was self inflicted... we could have signed Butler for example instead of AD and had depth.

Houston is very top heavy... see them in a similar position to us.

Yes, Ingram's injuries at the time we traded him were expected.

Which is why I wouldn't have traded six young assets for BI either.

We might start by having the three 40% 3 point shooters who couldn't get playing time take them vs. the 29% shooting superstar.

Kuz and KCP were 4-9; LBJ was 1-12 (I believe)...

The Clips strategy is go UNDER every single screen; they're giving him that shot, and he needs to take those, but he needs to make them.

If he hits 2 more 3-pointers, it's a different game; he was just so uncharacteristically bad last night...

I'm more bummed we don't have a 1st to trade right now; I'd trade that yesterday and go get somebody like Jeff Teague.

This would be the obvious lineup to maximize shooting and lenght but Vogel went with Rondo. Now everyone gets to b**** about the offense and Lebron/AD when they had no spacing out there. Beverly basically sat in the paint killing any action to create a mismatch.

Lebron isn't going to be able to overpower 3 players and you can't post AD if another defender is already in there: stupid coaching to TBH. You need shooters around James to maximize his effectiveness (hell in this day and age it's the only way to play in crunch time)

We have a massive size advantage on the Clipps yet we continue to jack up Threes.. They were almost daring us to.

They did get an undeserved win which happens. We had that game and couldn’t close the deal which stinks, but I think the doom and gloom is a bit overblown.

I’m hopeful a move presents itself as the team can definitely be improved but I didn’t walk away from either game thinking we can’t hang with or beat the Clippers.

And that’s where I scratch my head at Vogel. That line up was gold and Kuz should have played more minutes.

even my favorite shipping boy KCP had some really nice moments.

We gave the Clippers a Christmas present last night.
