Not saying trade all I listed, but if we get 1-2 guys, they can all be replaced come playoff time by minutes

I'm also willing to move Green - although I doubt they do that this season, but I'd be shopping him. He's way too inconsistent.

I'm not a fan of shipping Green UNLESS the trade makes a ton of sense. Would need a 3rd team with a real use for Green most likely to send assets back to other team

I want a consistent 3rd scorer who can create.

Gallo: Can be a 3rd scorer and a good shooter, but he isn't a guard penetrator
Lavine: Guard penetrator who can also shoot it. His defense isn't great, but I think he is a perfect 6th man on a contender who can close out games like Lou Will.
Dragic: Don't see MIA moving him for spare pieces or picks.

If we move Green, we need a 2/3 versatile defender back. Not sure who that is. Royce O Neale is nice, but not sure if we can get Lavine AND Royce by giving up:
Green, Kuzma, THT and or 2nds.

Lavine's value is hard to gauge for me. He has a big contract and him and Boylen are butting heads. If we could do somehow get those 2, which is likely not possible,

    KCP, Royce, Lebron, AD, Mcgee
    Avery, Lavine, Caruso, Dudley, Dwight

Try to swing daniels and or cook for another backup PF for depth and or to replace Dudley

Can you guys think of any 3 and d guys who we can get with Lavine? Don't say Crowder

    Nah

We lost 3 in a row because of injuries combined with a hell of a rough patch of the schedule. None of the teams we're worried about would win much without Yannis, Kawahi, etc being healthy either. We won 24 at record pace with what we got, so let's not overreact here.

I'll be happy to look at whoever gets released, but no team is going to want to help us, so we'd be getting pennies back on the dollar in a trade.

yeah, not time to panic. I’ve been talking about this happening for weeks—injuries + tough schedule—it’s why winning early was so important.

we can lose cook and Daniels if someone better shakes loose, but the idea that we’re dead in the water without a trade doesn’t make sense to me. I could pretty much level that argument against everyone but the bucks, whom I don’t trust in the playoffs after last year.

Sorry, guys - have to disagree.

We're not panicking; we need to fix the roster.

And we need a shot creator...

How people cannot see that baffles me

I feel like y’all are looking for perfection in a roster and not only is that improbable in a trade, it doesn’t acknowledge the flaws in the other contenders rosters.

The Clips literally have no shot creators... none... we at least have one in LeBron. The bucks have the gravity of their one star, but the load is all on Yannis and if he gets injured, good luck to them.

No team is perfect, but the flaws in your own team are magnified under scrutiny. We will be fine. Will we win the chip? We have as good a chance as the Clips and Bucks at this point IMO.

I guess Paul George or Lou Williams don't count as shot creators...

I can't do this today - from Dr. Joe, to assist-TO ratio, to the Clips have no shot creators -

    Have a good one guys...

Ummm no. They aren’t shot creators. They’re scorers. They don’t create shots for other players consistently at all. I don’t even see how that would be a controversial statement.

I'm guessing by shot creator he means create shots for themselves? If that's the case the Clips have three high level guys in Kawhi, PG and Lou. If by shot creator he actually means playmakers who create good shots for others, then they have Kawhi who once in a while passes the ball. But, yeah, they have no actual playmaker.

By shot creator we mean someone who can create for themselves.

Those 3 do enough passing wise, they lost a lot of games b/c of Kawhi or PG sitting

You don't need a guy who can just pass the ball to others like Rondo. Nobody even guards him when he plays. He can't attack the basket and score and collapse the defense

Playmaking isn't dribbling the ball for 20 seconds and then kicking it to a contested guy to hit a tough shot

Yep. While I haven't dug into the advanced stats, Paul, Kawhi, and Lou can create for themselves or others; George has a tendency to become a little iso-centric, but I've seen Kawhi develop some chemistry with Harrell and Zubac on pick in rolls; and Lou works very well with Harrell...

What does that do? It collapses the defenses, and Harrell is able to make the pass out to open 3-point shooters...rinse and repeat.

Lakers fans will have a nice dose of that on Christmas...but what do I know.

Let's continue to watch Rondo be ignored on offense...people here seem to love that.

lebron and AD don't just stop glossing over inferior teammates when the playoffs start.
no team wants those guys playing big minutes. including ours. which is why they won't in the playoffs.

this. again, i'll pick apart the other contenders:

bucks: no second star, highly unreliable 3rd scorer in bledsoe, bunch of young guys who depend on hitting threes to have real impact in games and might be susceptible to tightness on the big stage, a superstar who's not a reliable shooter from the ft line or outside the paint, really.

clips: little size up front, no actual pg on the roster (none!), best player's leg may actually fall off between now and when it matters

rockets: harden doesn't get as many calls in the playoffs, other teams play rotations as short as MDA's in the playoffs, they don't play anyone over 6'8", their defense is wildly inconsistent and depends on a 6'4" guy playing pf/c for big minutes

WHY DON'T THEY ALL UPGRADE NOW?!

btw, they all are hoping to, just like we are. but, like us, they don't have a lot of great options/routes to improvement. this happens...when your team is already really good.

our losses haven't been because we were missing one of our top guys in a game against a tough opponent, though?

nobody likes rondo here...except lebron and AD, i guess--whose opinions count like 100000X ours.

problem is there isn't anyone out there better than the guys people keep complaining about (cook, daniels, rondo) that we could get without having to give up something we like/can't afford to give up. i mean, did you see the pg FA market last summer? cory joseph got 3yrs/40 million.

just have to hope for buyouts and health for lebron and AD.

Bucks have the Pacers first round draft pick (Brogdon deal); Clips also have a first they could use...

the clips have a first? how?

anyway, yes, teams that didn't use the cap space route have more assets. keep in mind that the bucks have that pick because they gave away an allstar-level player from last year.
