Towns' first choice was talking about the Knicks, before they came up 4th pick. So if he's "OK" with a million and a half more salary for being picked 1st (doesn't suck .... he can buy more down gear with it) and would feel "blessed" going to MN where he could also play some power forward next to Pekovich or center when Pek is out, plus with the reigning rookie of the year in Wiggins..... make it so, Minny. Flip, don't piss your buddy, Jahlil's agent off and more importantly Okafor himself, by drafting him instead. Give me the BIG stud in the middle with the great frame and safer, lower to the ground offensive juggler's knot of a classic BIG man game. For, as JSM said, the next 15 years >>> Who WANTS TO BE IN L.A. We can fix him. We can make him better and we can find and/or keep rim protectors on the squad as well when match ups dictate. Okafor for the WIN.

i know its a no-brainer that we take whichever big man Minny doesn't pick up..however, am i the only one that has this nagging feeling that we might be passing up on the next big thing by not drafting Russel?

Yes. At least I hope so. Seriously we need our own dominant BIG. The league is being populated with them again.

No. I think Russell is going to be really good.

But I think Okafor and Towns are going to be really good as well and I don't we will regret grabbing one of them at all. I believe it was Chad Ford who stated there were three guys with big time potential out there and they were Towns, Okafor, and Russell. You may be able to put Mudiay in that bunch as well. If you walk away from the draft with one of those four, I think you call it a win.

Hypothetical guys. Would you trade our 27th pick, 34th pick, and Tarik Black to Toronto for the 20th pick so we can nab Justin Anderson? Or maybe the same deal and throw in Nick Young, but to Dallas at 21? Dallas has a pretty bare roster and a nice cheap forward and some scoring off the bench could be reall important when you consider Parsons may be out for a while and Monta may bail.

The more I read and hear about Anderson the more I REALLY want him. Evidently he's balls to the wall on defense and a really good locker room guy. He also shoots well from three. Perfect 3 and D player to compliment our new trio of Randle, Okafor and Clarkson. Throw a max deal at Tobias Harris and dare Orlando to match when they have Aaron Gordon on the roster and possibly need to draft best player available and it's Winslow, Hezonja, or Stanley Johnson.

    Okafor
    Randle
    Harris
Anderson (after Kobe inevitably gets hurt)
    Clarkson

I mean, it's young as heck, but man would it be fun to watch that group grow together.

I haven't seen a lot on Anderson. I've seen the stats, but I really haven't watched his game. I guess I'll need too...had to edit. My response to Karlito was in reference to an article posted earlier...

Firstly I think Orlando goes Cauley-Stein or takes the chance on Porzingis. They need a guy who is more defensive minded next to Vucevic.

Secondly... I think Harris is a long shot, but not that long. I tend to agree that Orlando moves on from him, but when he gets here how does he fit in? Is he a D and 3 guy? Does he embrace that role? I'm just not sure about him or his demeanor. I know he wanted to play in NY with Carmelo and that's about it. I find it unlikely that Butler, Middleton, and Leonard leave... I think Green goes to Detroit ( a rumor I head a long time ago). Harris might be "gettable" but I don't know much of anything about how he plays.

Mitch: "Deal. Sucka. Thanks for the goodies. We get what we want and you lost two 1sts for nothing. Lates! For reals!"

Okafor reminds me a LOT of Tim Duncan.

I'm gonna try to post things on prospects we might target with our later picks and undrafted guys we might consider signing.

This is from Chad Ford's latest has thoughts on Upshaw and Andrew Harrison, a couple of guys who might be on our radar with the later picks.

    Upshaw
"Upshaw looked good in the workout I saw. He's gotten into better shape, is working on his lo- post moves and his shooting. He's raw, but you can't teach his size or shot-blocking ability.

It will be very interesting to see whether teams believe that his problems are behind him. All of them are wary, but at the same time, teams see the obvious potential and want him to succeed. If a team is willing to heavily invest in his development, as both a player and a person, it could pay off huge for Upshaw, both as a player and as a person."

Andrew Harrison (I probably wouldn't draft him, but I would look at if he goes undrafted. He has a lot to work on, but I still think he has talent.)

"Harrison has gotten some of his mojo back after playing well at the NBA draft combine. Suddenly his agent is getting lots of calls from teams wanting him in for workouts.

After going from being one of the top-five high school players in the country to a projected second-round pick last year to a possible undrafted pick this year, Harrison may be getting another shot at redemption.

"Harrison said he's trying to get back the same expectations he had in high school in an attempt to convince scouts that he might be underrated.

He started the long journey back at the combine, showed well again here in Santa Barbara and now needs some help from his peers to prove to NBA teams in workouts that he's better than they think."

Does anyone else see a little bit of Bynum watching KAT in the post?
