Life changes. Priorities change. The style of play is unattractive. Players you hate join your team, and you get dry heaves watching. Lots of reasons.

People tend to comment more when things are going poorly. There is a popular soccer channel called Arsenal Fan TV. It's blown up precisely because a once championship team has fallen further and further out of contention. Both Arsenal fans and opposing fans love it because the fans get to vent... and the opponents enjoy watching the suffering.

When the team is doing well, there's not much to say other than keep it up and hooray. How many times can you say it? How many times can you read it?

Even if you're a positive person, it's boring to read after awhile.

I try to say positive things simply for balance and so I don't sound negative, but honestly I don't feel as much urge to post when things are going well.

I'm happy, but I don't need to say it or read about it.

After reading the owner of the site's explanation about their year long evaluation and private messaging with the guy, plus others chiming in about what he would not stop doing with the constant hammering at the same personal agendas of his that we got and understood and had NO way to do anything about them ourselves, the first 50 times stated, and yet how many of us are unhappy to see it come to this, I hope you feel differently about your snarky post above.

Things are going great but does not mean we have a cake walk to a ring with the other very strong teams at the top of the heap with us challenging us for it. And the acknowledged by all of us not "perfect" roster and its weaknesses and how we can best hope the FO is able to address them if it's possible at not too high a risk to what we have going on this year with the cohesion of this roster and the fact it's still early in the season and time for the rest of the offense to gel more. Buy outs and trade possibilities.

Again a little of the same attitude that we as a group shy away from debate. It's just not so.

I mean the Hardenesque style lol, and yeah, no worries on the PayPal thing. What’s a few bucks between friends.

just invite me to courtside seats later, and we’ll call it even.

I did read and listen to the reasoning behind the ban and it did make sense to me.

My post wasn't meant to be snarky but I do truly believe some here are intolerant of views that don't follow the majority opinion. I don't think that's a trait unique to this community, I think that's pretty universal.

Of course, there's still much to be discussed but my response was to that idea that once the team was successful that tons of bandwagoners would come out of the woodwork. Hopefully more people come, but both message boards and professional sports fans are a shrinking demographic. Gone are the days where everyone in the country would listen to the same songs, watch the same TV shows, root for the same teams. There still is a huge market but there's just too many different things that capture one's attention. It's sad because life used to be a more communal experience and even though in some ways we are more connected than ever... our interests probably will continue to be more balkanized.

That's the only reason I say newbies should be cultivated more than hazed as they are a dying breed.

Well if there are serious flaws to someone's take they hear about it. As there to many here there have been with some of yours. It's not group think you annoyingly keep bringing up. In their individual opinions. And you may defend as much as you like but people as eloquent as you (not speaking of me) will just as aggressively point out the flaws. It happens to old timers too. Many of us just say oops my bad. Not saying you need to.

When I had an office for many years I loved Jim Rome's show on radio. Regardless of what some of you think about him. The motto was "Have a take .... don't suck". Again not saying those of yours being debated have. But even I can see the holes in some of the logic that you will defend no matter what. The other motto that carried over to here from Clublakers was "Come often .... come strong". As you do.

If I am proven wrong as in the case when I saw IT play us... I will quickly retract my position.
Had he played well and shown me more, I would have continued to support my point.

What I won't do is continue out of pride if don't really believe my position anymore.

Fine. But stop with the "group think" small community crap. These are individual opinions who don't agree with you. What you state you want here. Discussion. Stop also with the "hazing" of new members crap. When you come off as strong as you do and others think it's silly in the logic, right or wrong, you will be reminded of it as long as you haven't given an inch.

i think svtzr posted something relevant in another thread. he or she wasn't hazed, nor did they necessarily agree with everyone's opinion. but basically, you're not getting "hazed". and it's not close. you want discussion, and you're getting it. it seems like you want agreement, just with you. your AD and IT positions are and were incredibly fallible. and they're going to get assailed on those grounds, not on the grounds of you being a newbie or somesuch.

if you were here last year, you'd have seen me holding some relatively unpopular opinions about several things. that i happen to agree with the majority currently isn't a feature of the site, it's a product of the circumstance...which is the lakers being really good due to some long overdue solid moves and decent luck.

I've said many times that I can take it. Truly it doesn't bother me personally

I only said if it were done to others, I'm not sure they'd want to stay.

You guys have been here longer... if you all tell me that you haven't lost new members to this, then I'll accept that until I see otherwise.

Like the mondo forums aren't brutal plus having lots of stupidity thrown in for good measure? Come on man. I think people recognize the level here whether they lurk and enjoy the knowledgeable conversation and opinions ..... or participate. It's why @Barnstable and all of the staff have the rules they have, which are enforced with amazing patience and PMs to make sure you know if you're getting off base. Including "beating up on new members".
