We rank second in shot attempts in the paint but 19th in free throws. Something is wrong with this picture. Of Houston is number 1...surprise, surprise. https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/free-throws-attempted-per-game
If AD continues to drive to the rim as he has the last three or four games... this should change... and his FT attempts will be well deserved. Both he and LBJ need to get the other teams in foul trouble. It's a minor quibble in an otherwise excellent season.
Looks like 49% of their attempts, which ranks them dead last. https://stats.nba.com/teams/shots-general/
Wow, that’s a legitimate beef we need to address with the league. We can argue that the amount of post ups AD has, he should get more fouls drawn but at a 41% clip, it’s not entirely disrespectful. Meanwhile, Bron is one of the league leaders in usage and is blatantly getting disrespected with a mute whistle. https://stats.nba.com/players/usage...E*20&Season=2019-20&SeasonType=Regular Season
Maybe we have more uncontested shots in the paint due to transition, wide open pnr layups, dunks, or lobs? Maybe that’s why we have so few ftas despite such a high fgas in the paint? My eyeballs tell me otherwise, mind you. I think LeBron and AD get fouled a ton with no whistles. I tried to run a stat for frequency of contested fgas in the paint but couldn’t find it. I think that would be interesting to contrast against our ftas and other teams.
We’re dead last in drives to the rim. https://stats.nba.com/teams/drives/?sort=DRIVES&dir=1 So our lack of attacking the rim from the perimeter in the half court, could be what’s impacting our whistle. Also we’re in the lower bracket with PnR frequency, even though our points per possession on those attempts puts us at 7th best. But we’re one of the leaders in post-up frequency so that explains our limited dribble drive & PnR rim run opportunities some. But even with those post up attempts, we’re not getting whistles. https://stats.nba.com/teams/playtype-post-up/?sort=FT_POSS_PCT&dir=1 But you right Punk...we are 7th in transition frequency and 3rd in cuts to the hoop...so those clean open looks are going to limit the attention of the refs. We’re 3rd to last in frequency of very tightly contested (defender is within 0-2ft) on 2fg attempts within 10ft if the rim. https://stats.nba.com/teams/shots-c...ir=1&Season=2019-20&SeasonType=Regular Season And we’re 6th to last in frequency of tightly contested (defender is 2-4ft away) shot attempts in the paint. https://stats.nba.com/teams/shots-c...lar Season&CloseDefDistRange=2-4 Feet - Tight So we can definitely get more whistles, but it’s understandable why we’re not pertaining to AD. Bron on the other hand should have a legitimate beef.
It's time to bump this: The Los Angeles Lakers didn't get get their best win of the season this past weekend. They got their two best wins of the season on Friday and Sunday, holding the top-five offenses of the Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers to less than a point per possession over 96 minutes. They faced the biggest test of their post-break schedule and they passed it with flying colors. The Lakers are a league-best 13-2 since Feb. 1, and they have the signature wins they needed to end the Bucks' 14-week run at the top of the Power Rankings. More tests await, but there are no longer any pressing questions that need to be answered before the postseason begins on April 18. Plus-Minus Players of the Week Right Way: Avery Bradley (LAL) was a plus-60 in three games last week. 1 Last week: 2 Los Angeles Lakers Record: 49-13 Pace: 101.2 (11) OffRtg: 112.7 (3) DefRtg: 105.5 (3) NetRtg: +7.3 (2) The Lakers' two weekend wins were not pretty. They shot 16-for-67 (24%) from 3-point range and scored just 225 points on 215 total possessions (well below league average) in the two games. But the other end of the floor was uglier, as the Lakers held the Bucks and Clippers to just 206 points on 214 total possessions, forcing 20 turnovers out of Milwaukee and holding the Clips to just seven threes. Anthony Davis was the primary defender on both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard in the Lakers' previous meetings with the two teams, but LeBron James had those assignments (5:21 of defense vs. Antetokounmpo on Friday, 4:18 vs. Leonard on Sunday) this time around. The Lakers have allowed just 100.9 per 100 since the All-Star break, down from 106.3 before it. That's the league's biggest post-break defensive improvement. They're in position to be the first top-five defense that Davis has ever anchored and the first one that James has been a part of since the season he won his first championship in Miami (2011-12). They got the signature wins they needed, but it's not yet time to take their foot off the gas. After they host the Nets on Tuesday, the Lakers will play four games against three Western Conference playoff teams - Houston, Denver and Utah (x 2) - with top-10 offenses. Week 21: vs. BKN, vs. HOU, vs. DEN
I hope Giannis comes back soon . Don't want us to spend extra energy and compromise rest chasing the best record in the NBA
^^^ I think we took care of that chase by losing to the Nets and yeah hopefully the coaches nip that notion in the bud
This is the current NBA playoffs bracket if the playoffs started today. I like our road to the championship. Clippers will have to face the Mavs and then the Rockets or Nuggets while we only have to face the Grizzlies and Utah/OKC - two teams we should have no problem beating considering they lack stars.
It's similar for the Bucks. They should not have a major problem reaching the finals. Miami, maybe, but I think the Bucks can take care of them in a 7-game series.
