Yeah, I’m the reason my boy in a hoodie. True story.

AD & Bron both in the top 15 in players minutes played and usage rate...and that’s with some of those games being decided well before the final buzzer thx to our early soft schedule.

AD was in street clothes and Kuz working himself back from a stress rxn and that’s the only reason Dudz got 20mins. Before that, Dudz got DNPs even with Kuz out...kinda explains Bron/AD’s mins and usage now, doesn’t it?

For a vet team heavily reliant on its stars, there is no advantage for players not to play if the object is a deep run into June.

    Definitely.

Ahahahahahahahaha. This dude is still going on questioning Dudley's role on the team. Dudley wasn't brought in to be part of our depth. He was brought in because he's a no drama savvy veteran who understands how to help others on the team and puts that TEAM ahead of HIMSELF - which is something Melo has had issues doing throughout his career. Look at what Billups said about Melo:
    https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-scoring-30-meant-too-much-to-carmelo-anthony

Basically stating that Melo cared more about scoring the ball than his team winning the games without him scoring the ball as often.

Jared Dudley was on this podcast:

He basically talks about how his role is to help the team achieve what they needed to achieve moreso than any singular individual goal.. Also talks about how he spent hours practicing with Rondo making sure Rondo was ready to go. These behind-the-scenes stuff that you don't often hear about is why Dudley was still a more appealing free agent than Melo. No one is questioning who the better individual player is but Dudley is legitimately one of those veterans who has mastered the role of being a great teammate. Just look at the other night. Barely is in the Lakers rotation, subs in for Kuzma because AD is out and he knocks down wide open threes and was second in assists for the team against the Warriors. Are you sure Melo won't complain or sob in the bench? Are you sure Melo won't go to the media and talk about how his role has been diminished? I don't want that drama UNLESS we are struggling in the midseason and can't get Iggy.

"Melo has proven he can play big minutes." Dude, you are so invested in Melo that I think you might be his wife! You just highlighted the biggest problem with Melo. We don't NEED him to play big minutes. Some games, we don't even need him to suit up. You bring up his big minutes as if that's a good thing... It's NOT! Players who have played big minutes in superstar roles are generally not very accepting of lesser minutes in a diminished role. Just look at Allen Iverson. It's very rare you find a guy like Wade, Dirk, or Vince Carter who accepts their diminished role for the betterment of the team. Follow Melo's career.. trouble ensues everywhere this guy lands.

You keep talking about Dudley's extra locker room presence as a negative when you can NEVER have too much of a locker room presence. You fail to mention how Dudley goes out of his way to help others... Remember the Philly fight? Dudley said he only started that fight and was willing to pay the fine because he wanted to teach the younglings on the Nets roster that sometimes you have to fight back. When has Melo put the team ahead of himself? I will admit, Houston and OKC turned Melo into a player he isn't naturally. But once again, proving my point: Melo's ISO offense no longer works at his declined age and the new age of basketball. It would have worked in the late 90's and early 00's but those days are over. ISO ball doesn't generate anywhere near the same offense as moving the ball. Lakers are 2nd in APG because we move and share the ball. Now you're telling me Melo wouldn't hurt that?

Lastly, as I've said before, you are dumb as rocks if you think that the Lakers wouldn't sign Melo if LeBron knocked on the door asking them to. Lakers would have bent over and signed Smush Parker if that's what LeBron wanted. The problem is, LeBron doesn't want Melo on the team enough. Why? Because he knows the drama Melo will bring and understands that if it doesn't work out, they will pin it all on LeBron! We don't need that drama. We are winning games because our team is unselfish and wants to win. I can't say the same for Melo, ever.

Uh you the dude that wanted me to leave you alone, right? Your psychoanalysis of me was that I am the guy that is combative and constantly undermining other members...that was you, right? The guy that goes by the handle BangBoomPow...wow haha.

Anyways just like Dudz, you probably should have DNP’d your last entry. (aka Do Not Post).

Anyways, go kick rocks...Bang boom pow them all over the yard. It won’t hurt them...they too dumb to process pain.

That's a lot written for Dudley; you're probably responding to the dude who writes a dissertation every post.

Just a suggestion: you can always place him on ignore.

It makes being here at LakersBall so much better

0 minutes is better than any when you're a net negative and have been for years.

    DEFINITELY.

I see what you’re saying here, but my gut reaction to Melo coming here was it could be a bad chemistry mix with D39 and with Melo being buds with the team leader. I just didn’t think it was worth the chance. Melo seems to be as petty as D39, and at this point we’ve lucked out on a more mature version. But, I’ve seen a couple immaturity cracks forming in his post game interviews that I hope are nothing in the locker room.

I understand the concern...it’s no different than my concern for our stars’ health for when the real season starts.

However, I just find it difficult that Bron couldn’t keep Melo in check. And I really think the Melodrama is taken out of context some. Okc didn’t do much with him gone. Htown sans Melo didn’t do much to a hobbled dubs squad last year. Clearly there was drama there for both teams for George to want out and Harden and Cp3 not to get along despite all those State Farm commercials together haha.

Plus Melo is grown now and I’m sure humbled by all of this.

The bottomline of my argument is that Melo could provide playmaking, instant points and more importantly, his body could handle minutes to weather load management for our star forwards. His career has proven he can handle those minutes, unlike Dudz.

Nor did those whip sharp much better owned and run than the Lakers ..... Clippers want or choose to sign him either. Not picking on Melo just stating a fact. Nor did they want or choose to sign Noah.

I still can't believe that the Clippers didn't sign Dwight.
With Dwight, Harrell, and Zubac it would have been rough banging in the paint against them.
Dwight obviously could still blow up in our face, but so far it looks as though that decision might have tipped the balance of power in our favor.

Referring I assume to Dudley and Daniels. Here we go again back to the construction of the roster vs how you would have done it? All we asked was to let the season get going, see how the team jells and if the FO's vision for constructing the roster (post Magic) (with the elite evaluation of basketball skills .... in the draft and seemingly so far with vets brought in that they have demonstrated they have [not just Pelinka]) .... works and how the team is doing. Well so far it's doing really, really well.

AND they did leave 1 spot vacant. Dwight got it! If Iggy comes then Daniels or Dudz or please somehow KCP can leave.

The only other way to get Melo was to out of the blue CUT Dudley or Daniels who have both by all accounts and appearances been playing their roles so far and doing what has been asked of them in practice and limited time in games while the team has been residing in first place in the West.

Neither seems a rational thing to have done or do now and to do now would be a crappy look for future vet minimum type players considering coming here as I've mentioned before. Play your role that the LAKERS approached you and extended the offer for .... really well .... and then 10 or 11 games into a "winning" season so far say, "hey Dudz thanks for coming but ummm we changed our mind and think you're not really the guy we wanted."

Melo isn’t as good a 3 PT shooter as Dudley
    Melo is worse defender
Melo won’t play 0-5 min (like Dudley most games)
Melo will take shots and time from kuzma and other bench guys.

No space for him unless we traded kuzma

@LTLakerFan 8mpg with a few DNPs while Kuz was injured leaving AD to shoulder the load...uh o think we’ve seen what the forecast could be. That being said, he did step up for 20mins+ last game so let’s see if that holds up.

But since I’m the #VashedKingOfHypotheticals, what’s your take on what we tell Dudz if Iggy suddenly sprang free. Would you care about the optics or Dudz feelings then if that were to occur?

Another hypothetical question: when the playoff roster shrinks to 12 and assuming Boog looks to be on his way back, who do leave off the roster? I know you like them Lil Tikes, but THT is probably one...so who are the other 2? The haters will say Kcp & Rondo and although I really do think Dudz is a nice guy and I got no beef with him as a player (just the roster spot he occupies), is it wise to put him on our playoff roster?

It doesn’t matter if it’s Melo or any other name...the point of those 3 extra roster spots is to keep our playoff 12 fresh for the title run. That can’t happen if they don’t get up off the bench. They need to play. Melo can handle 30mins per right now...Dudz can’t and his history tells us he can’t: 59, 48, 64 games played in the last 3 seasons avg 15mpg.

@nzahir I don’t personally think he takes time from Kuz. And even if he does in the regular season, is that really a bad thing for Kuz’s legs for the postseason

As for the defense, I’m not claiming Melo is great, but he isn’t a hack either. He held his own on a team with Adams, George and Russ and if you look at their recent defensive ratings, Dudz ain’t really elite compared to Melo. Last year in the playoffs, Dudz Nets squad was 3rd to last in defensive rating.

As for shooting, I sacrifice that for playmaking and regular season usage deflection away from Bron/AD if the ultimate goal is the ring.

Iggy is a different story. Cross that bridge when it happens. Probably what the ONE open roster spot was for before Boogie's injury.

As far as the other stuff so what is it with Melo. Are you are still b****ing about the roster as constructed 4 months later while we are winning and Dudley in no way has hurt us, in fact done what has been asked of him so far just fine ..... OR ..... while we are winning, 10-11 games into the season and in first place, just because Melo is still unsigned, by the Clippers as well, we now cut Dudley or Daniels?

So you would cut someone for Iggy...got it. You believe the roster could still be tweaked. Yet when I feel Dudz for Melo is worth considering and Daniels could be cut for Iggy later, if it happens at all, is also something we should have considered, it’s me b****ing. Wild times here at LB.

I believe abeer mentioned if Kuz went down, he would consider going after Melo. Well, Kuz was down and Dudz barely got off the bench.

With AD down and Kuz slowly rounding back to form from his injury, Dudz got 20mins. Bro, that’s a helluva a way to get your minutes. Plus we ain’t going to be playing a depleted dubs team every night.

You can have your 9-2 record. I want a ring and the best way to get it is for other guys to step up and play so that our core guys got the legs they need in May. Mr. 8mpg ain’t it.

This is so ridiculously obvious, I’m tempted to “hack” into Magic’s twitter to tweet it so that it gets rehashed here.
    :Magic Brows:

Btw if Dudz/Daniels start to play meaningful minutes to directly or indirectly limit Bron/AD’s minutes you won’t hear a peep out of me. Till then, wasted roster spots when clearly this team has needs that need to be met. Unless you want to ride our stars (one being 1yr closer to being really washed and another managing 2 injuries) into the ground.

"It's super tough," Davis said. "It's a long season. It's early in the season. You don't want to continue to play through something and then it gets worse. So it's always sitting in the back of your head. But at the same time, you want to play. So you got to listen to your body, be honest with the training staff and try to do what you can. Kind of do what's best for the betterment of the team."

Dude your handle is a misnomer. Unlike you, LT's got balls and will man up to a discussion...wait for it...on a discussion forum. He chooses to tag me in, quote me and discuss topics with me.

Not everyone is like you who cant stand on his own bball opinions so chooses to ignore those that question it.

And if that wasn't enough, instead meddles with others who choose to engage in discussion to plea with them to ignore the discussion they willingly want to partake in.

If you choose not to make it your business, why don't you stay out other people's business. Stay in your lane.

    LavarBallsSad...so so very sad.
