If Rondo can show to stay healthy in the next 2 months, I think Cook (who is a nice shooting piece), can be moved for an upgrade at the backup 2. Mostly b/c his minutes will be slashed, can't play like 4 pgs in the playoffs. Can only have so many pgs out there, and Rondo will get minutes. AD and Lebron trust him. He does help the bench offense, and come playoff time you want a guy who has been there.

Rondo is the other ball handling guard and JJ can create more offense than Cook can. Korver even creates a lot due to his spacing and the plays he can run when he comes around picks and handoffs.

I did want to look at a Kuzma deal from the beginning of the yr for a guy like Derrick White. Hes a good player, but hes got to continue to attack (especially when shot isn't falling, glad to see he has started to do that again)

Happy Melo’s back in the league. Still rather have Dudz over him though.

So what you trying to say, Bron?

My guess is Melo was ego-trippin and didn’t want Bron’s “help” to get a spot on the Lakers. That better be the reason.

Cause if it was us saying no to Melo with the current roster we have with Dudley giving us diddly in terms of legit depth at the 3/4 ...

You do realize that Dudley is a great locker room guy right? When there is tension, he is a great guy to have.

He knows his role, he can shoot the open 3 well, and he at least gives effort on defense

Yeah I do realize that. I still think he makes for a better community outreach employee handling jersey giveaways.

Do you realize Melo was coached by losers in Donovan and MDA and did buy in to the s*** they were selling to his own detriment?

Good for Melo, glad it wasn’t with us. Portland is desperate, we are not.

Good for Melo, but it's obvious we did not want to sign him. If we did - he'd be a Laker already. We are either happy with what we got or waiting for Iggy.

So what’s Melos role on here?

Take away Kuzmas role? Or take time from guys like Caruso and cook?

And what if we get iggy

Ive discussed it already before, but since you asked... I feel it helps Kuz more since he’s naturally a scorer and can learn from Melo in that regard. Plus Kuz looks up to dude.

Folks like Dudz locker room presence, but you already got Bron, Rondo, AD and a whole lot of vets in that room already. Plus Melo and Bron are boys so I just highly doubt Melo becomes a deterrent in that aspect.

So other than that, what does Dudz provide? Minimal minutes at the 3/4? Melo has proven he can play big minutes in his career.

Dudz is a better defender than Melo. Maybe...but then again Melo will be playing for a defensive coach. Besides have y’all seen Dudz defensive numbers. Not very good at all in recent years.

    https://stats.nba.com/players/defense/?sort=DEF_WS&dir=-1&Season=2018-19&SeasonType=Regular Season&TeamID=1610612751

Playmaking? You know who gets the advantage there.

Even shooting...Dudz on minimal volume ain’t head(band) & shoulders over Melo.

Then you look at their contracts and one is non-guaranteed, with minimal risk and high potential upside like Dwight.

So what’s really the advantage of having Dudz over Melo at this point? Other than being a nice guy, giving tickets and jerseys aways to fans and maybe a future in broadcasting, what does Dudz have over Melo basketball-wise?

I guess it’s outside possibility still since he’s a nonguaranteed deal, but I feel that ship has sailed now and the point remains that if Iggy breaks loose from Memphis, who gets the cut since we would need to clear a roster spot?

I like having Iggy on the roster, but he’s not a playmaker and isn’t comfortable handling the rock for chunks of the game...it’s just not his game.

So this isn’t a choice of Iggy vs Melo...it’s really a choice of Iggy & Melo vs Dudz & Daniels...and that choice is easy!

Anyways, I’ll keep it moving, unless you want to discuss it further.

one big advantage for daniels and dudley: they can sit for full games or for weeks, and neither they nor the press are likely to make a fuss about it.

    this is an underrated advantage.

if we lost kuz for an extended period or something, i'd have wanted melo. almost no other circumstance, though.

So there’s an advantage for players not to play...:wasntme:

Leave them spots vacant then and maybe bring up your 2way players or 10day some vets that are looking to get back in (ie Brew, JJ, J-Craw, JR etc.). You want one to stick, offer the DPE or vet min at that time.

Daniels is buried behind guards with true need at the moment (playmaking & defense). He’s an offensive single skill set player playing for a defensive coach. He’s not a player of necessity right now. EDIT: even with the Av injury.

Although Dudz showed up for 20mins+ the other night, I just dont anticipate we can rely on him when it comes to managing minutes for Bron/AD. His recent track record says so in that he avg’d 14, 20 and now 8 minutes per.

Melo is the obvious choice and it’s bizarre just how much some of y’all fighting it...almost like someone else on this team.

well, actually, in the case of your boy since 2017:

    https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/anthoca01.html

    definitely.

not the right choice. reason it took an emergency for someone to sign him 10 games into the season.
