Okafor could be Tim Duncan, but he could also easily be Al Jefferson too. Great post scorer, but a mediocre defender.

Al Jefferson currently commands 13.5 mil/yr, so grabbing a similar player on a rookie salary isn't something to sneeze at. But I'd rather take a chance on Town's defensive potential. The Lakers aren't the Cavs, T-Pups, or 76ers. We don't miss the postseason often. Investing in potential is the best way to go for us.

I can't call Okafor Vs. Towns. It's too close. They both have there up sides and speculative down sides about there game (Okafor) and Injury potential (Towns)

That being said, I think I"m leaning more towards Okafor just because I see his game complementing Randal's game much more offensively and because I'm sick of worrying about Injury. We'd have three very different styles of attack from all over the floor. It would be a very hard tandem to stop a PF with a jumper that can still push the ball, while also having to double team a big long center in the post.

If we can lock down a 2 way SF in the off season, I think we're well on our way to contending again in a few years

I still can't believe we got #2. I had real fear we'd get 6th or 7th and lose the pick. I was happy if we kept it at all, I'd have been thrilled with #5. #2 though, we have our pick of so many good players now. Hell, #2 may even allow us to trade for Cousins if we wanted to go that route. I admit I'd like to have Okafor, because he's a true C and could play right next to Randle, and because I too have concerns about Towns' weak, Bynum-like base, but I'll take either.

If I'm reading Mark Heisler right he says we have Towns and Mudiay over Okafor. That I just don't get, Mudiay could be great, but he's such an unknown for a pick that high on a team that cannot afford to screw this pick up. I wish the kid had played college ball here so we'd know more about him, for all we know he could be just another athletic guard, or he could be Kyrie Irving, I've seen so little of him. Hopefully workouts between now and the draft make things clearer for us. I love having that #2 pick, but there's also a lot of pressure with it. I think there's even more with #1 though. You take Okafor there and he becomes a bust while Towns and Mudiay become stars, disaster, because we aren't getting a pick this high again.

Why debate that when we can have both?

Plus, Okafor has grown so much from whenever this is, he's absolutely huge now.

@Barnstable that's a very exciting mismatch opportunity most nights. Factor in one of the 3 & D guys (Carroll, Green, Middleton) and whatever Kobe gives you...even if it is as a decoy...he's still Kobe. Who's equipped to deal with such a varying attack? Maybe a handful of teams. As far as up and coming teams the Bucks came to mind because their length let's them switch everything. More often than not someone should be left in a position by match up to abuse his opponent.

So if those reporters can be trusted, seems like Okafor AND Towns would prefer to come to LA over Minny, shocker.

I just checked number 2 picks from the past "few" years. There were some pretty BAD choices there...
In Mitch i trust. Im not sure about Okafor/Randle on the defensive end.

Meh, Mitch is weighing both guys and will make his choice. Minny then will be left with whoever we don't pick. Agents rule the NBA.

Do You see us trading the pick? Or grab a PG (Russell/Mundiay) or SF (Henzoja/Winslow) and then go after Deandre for example?

It's hard for me to say.I saw some stats and some highlights by both K-A Towns and Okafor. Both look solid. Okafor's numbers look great save his FT%, but Towns played limited minutes in UK. Towns looks better defensively and it looks to me he scores with ease, comparing with JO. But KA is slimmer and i heard he's more injury-prone. Towns has a nice mid range shot and hook. JO seems to be better in paint. Difficult choice. Cannot make a mistake...
