Because Dwight finally sacked up and said I'm gonna play the role needed to win. Melo has never done that and it doesn't look like he ever will.

And I would agree with you. Fans just like to s*** on dude, but are Donovan and MDA coaches worth Melo changing his game for? None of those coaches/offenses have won anything...so how does it justify a former star player changing his game for?...And yet he did.

He said he’ll embrace whatever role he’s given as long as he’s competing for a title.

So yeah, bring on Melo if Iggy ain’t interested.

An interesting game today. Our first look at a talented point guard (Conley's been something else this season) albeit a rookie in Ja Morant. Valanciunas and JJJ match up decently with our bigs.

Could easily be a trap game. I hope we try and finish this early instead of flipping the switch at the end. Bad habits and all that.

Look, as with Dwight, if he comes, I will root for him to succeed because I live and breathe Lakers. But I cannot overstate the level of disgust I still feel that Dwight is back on our roster (even with his big game Sunday). Adding Melo to the mix would probably induce a stroke for me. I have never seen a player waste more talent with a lackadaisical attitude toward winning, than Melo. We don't need him. We have Kuz, and god-willing, we'll need that roster spot for Iggy.

The big difference btwn Dwight and Melo starts and ends with DEFENSE.

Defense has ALWAYS been a staple of Dwight's game - it has NOT been for Melo.

We don't need Melo - he doesn't fit this team but could Brooklyn use him? Absolutely.

it might send a problematic (and unintentional) message, but do you start dwight to deal with valanciunas's strength advantage on mcgee?

anyway, yes, we should pound memphis. if we do what we did against charlotte, those can start turning into Ls.

Val also gives us a first look at a stretch big at the 5 position... I'd think you start McGee though, his length can combat the strength (hopefully) while still having the foot speed to challenge the outside shot. Memphis will definitely try and pull our center out of the paint to let Morant do work.

Still, game should be "winner takes home Iggy".

To me this is typical Lakers fan perception. How many people thought Lebron sucked, thought Wade sucked, thought Kawhi sucked????
BI is a good basketball player, I was sorry to see him go but would trade him 1000 times over if we continued to receive Anthony Davis in return. But BI has been playing very well for NOLA. He is averaging 27ppg-10rpb-5apg right now while shooting 50% from 2 AND 3!!

I think he has a good attitude, has ANYONE heard him make ANY disparaging remarks towards anyone on the Lakers since his trade?? I haven't. IMHO, once this guy puts on some weight and can start holding his space inside, he is going to be highly regarded on both sides of the ball. With all that, he is still getting traded for AD every time but that is hardly a knock as AD IS a generational player.

I don't see any reason to diss BI, I can understand the need to diss Ball, even Hart, even Randle, but not BI because he has not burned any bridges and is playing exceptionally well.

    Get over it!

the hype was warranted, this organization didn't do ANY of our youth any favors with the crappy coaching and all the front office drama. BI is the epidemy of a team player, his ISO heavy gm was somewhat due to Puke crappy offense which has started to take negative effects on the Kings players too now, who at one last yr had a top 10 offense and defense, now they look like garbage again...even if BI never lived up to the "hype" he never complained, didn't do social media, didn't wear jacked up shoes, didn't try to promote himself, etc. All he did was ball but all we saw was what he "couldnt" do rather then see what he could do built on that.

i'd love it if they let us off the hook with valanciunas bombing threes instead murdering mcgee's skinny a** in the paint. still have AD to deter shots in the paint. if memphis is smart, they'll play to their literal strength, imo.

LeBron and AD are playing like guys who can score any time they touch the ball, either from the line or at the basket (or in LeBron‘s case, from anywhere). Last player we had like that was Kobe and now we have two of them.

We’re gonna have a lot of nights like tonight where we completely stomp the lesser teams.

This is the kind of beat down teams put on us for 6 years, laughing at us, kicking us while we were down out of Laker hate. Nobody’s laughing now except for our entire bench during garbage time. Damn I missed wins like this, where you feel zero anxiety during the game because you know they’re going to stop messing around and blow it open eventually with ease. Even down like 15-2 or whatever I felt no danger.

Not since the Shaq and Kobe days have I seen a Laker team that can play half-assed for a couple of quarters then decide to just absolutely murder the other team by shear talent and will. For a second I admit I was a bit nervous about losing to this Memphis team at home but then all of a sudden they seem to realize they were much better and just put the butt whoopin down. My goodness this really is gonna be fun! I actually think we may have the type of team other teams might start to fear playing especially on our home floor.
