My problem with Melo and Johnson (and one of my many problems with Smith) is that while they aren’t washed up, they can only contribute in one way, iso scoring. Zero defense to be seen, no real passing skills, they’re not really going to get you boards at this point anymore. Dudley isn’t great, but he will make open shots, he does still play defense, he knows his role and does the dirty work, those other guys don’t, especially Melo who still thinks he’s something he’s not, a star. There has been this rumor based off I think a Clippers podcast that Iggy is going there today, clearly hasn’t happened yet, but if he did we’d look at these players.

I don’t love any of the names left, but again, I think dirty work, know your role guys are more of what is needed in a championship run than former great scorers that have been out of the league for a while.

We aren't bringing on inefficient chuckers who can't play any defense. Whatever they give on offense will not be worth what they give up on the other end.

While I do agree we need more playmaking or guys who can get their own shot, this is why Kuzma should be off the bench and unfortunately Rondo will be playing (off the bench likely). I hope Caruso is capable and ready this year, he has shown some nice flashes. If he is ready, then starting lineup should be

    Caruso, Green, Lebron, AD, Mcgee/Dwight

Rondo and Kuzma are primary ball handlers off the bench I guess. I would like if we could get goran dragic from a buyout in a trade, but not likely to happen. If we don't win it all this year, this is probably our biggest flaw that needs to be addressed next summer

^^^Houston's offense makes you inefficient with their ridiculous threefficient belief system.

Our net for ballhandlers is going to be far more narrower at this point in the new season. It's older guys like Melo or JJ now. They ain't the only fish in the sea, but you should know it's slim pickins now.

I'm hoping Caruso has that juice too...I'm hoping McGee and Dwight are enough at the 5....I'm hoping everybody stays healthy.

But then again most of us were hoping for a 3rd max guy this summer too..

So here's hoping we dont need another playmaker, but if do, I hope we still have options later.

Anyways back to Htown...not sure what this means for Iggy to us or the clips, but...

Htown has 15 on the roster with Nene but have McLemore signed to a partially guaranteed deal that will only have them eat 50k if they decide to waive him before opening day. Or they can waive Bennett's fully nonguaranteed deal. That slot could then potentially then go to Iggy.

Also Htown has the biannual exception valued at 3.6m or the remaining non-tax payer MLE of 5.7m that they can offer to Nene who declined a 3.8m player option this summer.

They are 5.2m away from the tax apron, so they would forfeit the non-tax MLE if they breach it. So that means they can only potentially offer Nene & Iggy up to 7m total for the both of them after they waive McLemore or Bennett.

As it stands, Nene can take any amount of those exceptions or the 2.6m vet min exception, which would only count as 1.6m on Htown's capsheet allowing Iggy to still get offered roughly 5.4m if he gets a buyout from Memphis and Htown waives one of their non-guaranteed deals.

Was supposed to go down today according to the Clipcast host with the non-assailable source. It's 5pm and nothing. Now the Clipcast is looking like a Sh!tcast with another media source already bagging on them. https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/09...dala-headed-for-clippers-confirms-not-a-soul/

Doc liked a post means nothing but pr stuff. Of course he would like that. Well, good so far, we need this guy really bad. Would love to see the Clippers fan base doom after us getty Iggy after all this hype about them getting him.

    Watching recent Melo videos:

He's in great shape. He has plenty of game left and he is very skilled. None of that is an issue. But that type of iso game is just not very important anymore and on top of that - and unlike Dwight (!) - he probably still thinks he's a "star starter" (as Pau once said). So, I'm not going to disrespect his game, he's easily better than almost half of the league right now... if we talk overall skill and 1-on-1 basketball. But it's just not about that anymore. He's better than JJ though.

:KobeConfused: .... is that supposed to be Iggy's Twitter account? The tiny photo looks like a female with a white skirt taking a golf swing.

Shouldn't be that much of a head scratcher. Account has verified tag, the media, Stephen Currey and other NBA players are identifying him with it. Female with a white skirt? That's Andre who is a golf nut and those are shorts,

OK Great!! Thanks that's great to know we are still in the running and he's mocking the Clippers. Just no f****** way IMO does he choose to go play on the Houston roster vs here in Los Angeles for the Lakers on THIS roster and with his BFF Rob wooing him.

But it's a tiny damn photo I seriously thought it was a chick in a short white golf skirt. :p

My bad ..I blew that pic up and you were half right:

Also I don't know 100% if he was mocking the Clips but there is absolutely nothing else out there to attach that comment to. So it sure seems... also, his history with the Clips, I know it's a totally different team but do remember old Andre was ready to quit the league over Sterling.

How embarrassing if Wade decides to come back. He had a whole farewell tour. Exchanged jerseys at all those games. Teams had tribute video for him and then psych lol. And no this would be nothing like Jordan coming back.

Fyi: if granted, unlike the vet min this amount won't prorate as the season goes on. For example, after the trade deadline and during buyout season, we'll be armed with 1.75m to offer a vet, but had we offered a vet min contract at that time of the season, we would only be able to offer about a max 1.1m (of a potential 2.6m 10+ year vet) at that time. Obviously if it's a vet that is less tenured, that amount drops off considerably.

Also if Boog comes back and we haven't waived him, the 1.75m dpe won't be voided if the league grants us the exception.
