I think you say what you feel. if he feels he's the best, he should say it. I don't happen to agree. at all.

Neither do I but I'm glad he said it. I don't have to agree with him but that attitude will suit him well in the NBA.

eh, to a point. the bench is littered with guys who think they're a #1 and really a #3 on a good day. I think there's something to understanding your place.

but I'm not saying it has to happen in a pre-draft interview. I think the media begs these guys to have irrational confidence, as do the fans.

    calibration is key.

That was my point. These writers and reporters ask loaded questions with no right answers and we expect what from this guy?

If we keep our pick, we're likely drafting S. Johnson with the 4th or 5th pick. The talent pool is so evenly matched at that point (Trill, Winslow, Mudiay, Hezonja) I would be happy with any of them.

Maybe when he was asked why he should be drafted (I understand he's a kid and hindsight is blah blah blah) but could have answered without the comparison to some pretty top dogs in this year's class. Something instead like, "because I'm going to be a hell of a player and the team that gets me will (be thrilled) (not be disappointed). Or mention the teams that pass on him will come to regret it.

Meh..... a lot about nothing of course. We all want that kind of confidence if he really believes it, true or not.

I think if you asked any of the top 10 prospects in the draft the same question, you'll get the same answer. Do I agree with his answer, no. But I don't want him saying I'm the 4th or 5th best player in this draft either. I know Russell and a few other guys at the combine said the same.

I love this kid. He's my third favorite prospect in this draft behind Okafor and Mudiay (strictly a personal biased ranking). If we are confident in our ability to land a starting C in free agent and we end up with the 5th pick, he'd be a great addition for the Lakers. The fact that Kobe's taken a liking to him and worked out with him, says a lot on my book as far as the Mamba seeing the "it" factor with Stan.

Thank you! I was starting to think I was the only one who thought this way.
