Seeing that picture of Okafor's hand, keeps me giddy and hope we get a shot in drafting him.

I missed it because I was unaware of him until you guys started talking about him. What were the reasons Robert Upshaw was booted from 2 college basketball programs?

    I think it was drugs.

I confess I could be wrong. I say drugs because of things others have said, references to immaturity, lack of attending class.

Upshaw has failed multiple drug tests and spent time in John Lucas's drug rehab center in Houston. I've said before, I think he is getting a lot of buzz now but it's hard for me to see a team pulling the trigger on giving him a guaranteed deal once draft night rolls around. I think he will slip into the second round and I'd be ok with us taking a chance on him then.

Robert Upshaw offers intrigue despite past transgressions

Hmmm. Darius Miles and Lamar turned out OK. For awhile. Todd Hamilton says hello. I'd take a shot because we have guys on the team who are strong. PLUS Byron and Kobe will be on him like stink on bleep if he screws up in any effort/attention areas. He doesn't play unless he tows the line. He and Tarik banging around in there together at times with Randle at the 3.... bruise brothers revisited.

I'll take him with the 34, that's it. That's not the kind of player you want on your team. That's the kind of player who needs to show he wants to be on your team, hence being a second rounder.

There's no confirmation on the drugs thing. He worked out with Lucas while he was booted off Fresno State, but the rest is speculation. He's worth the risk of a late first round pick in our situation.

Has he come out and denied the drug allegations? I would think if that weren't true he would come out swinging and even potentially sue over it given how widespread that is being reported and how its affecting his draft stock.

He has discussed immaturity repeatedly. When he first got into trouble at UW the coach said he had done nothing "criminal." It might be drugs, but that's not a guarantee. Drugs can be a problem. Immaturity can, too. Sometimes it's the same problem.

True. I'm not 100% against picking him. I'd just prefer it be in the second round. I wouldn't be too upset if we took the risk and grabbed him at 27 though.

I wouldn't be heartbroken if we didn't take him, mind you, especially if we pick up WCS or a better big with our first pick.

    Kobe's a bball addict

We don't know that Upshaw has ever used drugs, much less that he's an addict. That's a hefty term to throw around willy nilly. #Amirite
