I'd pull my quote from somewhere but: the smoke has officially started for Giannis to get here.

By the way, this means nothing for the next 2 years. We are still in position to compete for two years then make a legitimate run at Giannis. I'm okay with this timeline. If not, no big deal, we just continue with what we're doing and look for the next star to put next to AD.

I guess it’ll be a badly kept secret on what we plan on trying to do with our cap space in 2021.....

It’s gonna be fun having reporters ask Giannis on a weekly basis about Laker rumors lol.... it’ll be ongoing for 2 years.

Who else is available in 2021, assuming we don't end up using that space on Giannis?

EDIT: Aside from PG and Kawhi who can both drive off a cliff.

Yeah, assuming Kawhi and PG are disqualified from joining the Lakers forever, and assuming for the moment Giannis doesn't come, I don't love this list beyond Beal. He'd be my target, and I think he's getable. (I'm also assuming LeBron reups).

I'm interested in all of them to an extent depending on cost. An AD/Jrue reunion would be nice. Beal and McCollum are the same person in my head. I've always had a soft spot for Adams. A true throwback big.

I like Adams too, just not sure he should be our target when we already have AD. We need an elite guard.

If Oladipo can show he can be healthy, I'd take him.

Yeah Adams wouldn't be a max add in my opinion, but for the right price I'd take him. For max money I'd be looking at CJ, Bradley, and Giannis. The rest would be partial max deals for us (but possibly max deals elsewhere). If you can't get CJ or Bradley, a Jrue/Adams combo makes sense.

There it is. Smoke for days. Nobody can deny it anymore that's for sure. Magic tampering, Kidd hiring, FA timing, little brother signing. The smoke is official.

Wonder if Kobe low key has got involved at all, with him known to vacation&has a house there(if I'm not mistaken).

I'm from Greece and just know we're very loyal&everyone from there(I'm 30) liked the bulls(because of MJ,that's done) or the Lakers, absolutely love Kobe because of LAL...being like MJ,him vacating there. Also his Italy roots(neighbors).

I'm just low key thinking 1 of Giannis' dreams was the Lakers. That would be such a MASSIVE boost for his brand and Greeks would go ape-crud. Would be huge for the global NBA game too.

This was a smart move by the Lakers...not only have we tapped into the Giannis relationship, but I also think his brother has some potential to be a decent NBA player.

He looks exactly like Giannis in terms of his build, and his game is fairly similar too (obviously not even close to the same level but a poor poor man's Giannis). He's only 21 and with our G league squad, I'm confident he can get better and develop.

Did I mention this was a low risk, HIGH HIGH reward move by the Lakers? Didn't even have to use a guaranteed roster spot for this...

In case the Lakers FO long term plan wasn't clear already, this signing pretty much confirms it!

No? Giannis loved him. He was vocally upset about the move.

if this is how Rob/FO was thinking when it came to hiring Vogel, this is a bad look. Its no different then max player chasing with the countless 1yr signing's over the years. Would be even more embarrassing and ugly if Vogle manages to win a chip and still get fired for Kidd just to have a "chance" at drawing in Giannis.
