Those examples don't cut it for me. Dragic and Green is not as good as Green, Boogie, McGee, Cook, and Pope. It's just not. I don't care if we get a pick out of it, we're trying to win games. Harkless/protected 1st instead of Cook/KCP (essentially the same cost in our cap) is a wash at best, but I'd honestly probably prefer Cook. Give me a young guy who can shoot. Again: we're trying to win. That protected 1st doesn't help me right now.

Pretty much right there, but you have no idea if he'd take the minimum. You're just assuming he'd give up that 700k, but we don't know that. You cannot include him in your list of veteran minimums. I'd rather have McGee than Vonleh, WCS, and Bell and it's not close. Noah is nothing but a body, not even comparable. Chandler the same thing. Koufos is worse than Chandler or Noah. None of them are as good as McGee and are reflected in that cost.

Again: no absorption gives us this roster. You keep saying this, but Green/Dragic/protected 1st is not as useful as Green/Boogie/McGee/Cook for us now. That's not really debatable.

There's no way we can really say what happens with Iguodala, the man is working for the most money he has, throwing his name in here is a strawman. And if that's your example, then you want Iguodala over Green? That's a terrible decision. Green is a better player at this point in their careers.

There's almost nothing but "woulda, coulda, shoulda" arguments coming from you on this. :D There's little substance that stands the test of: does it help us win now within our window? The only example you've given that might work is Harkless/unprotected 1st vs. Caldwell-Pope/Cook which is at least debatable.

What is an optimum level? We're a deep team, a contending team, and we did it with 32m to spend. We're not in cap hell over the next couple years. We've got a clear window of opportunity and contracts that are movable should a star become available (Beal). This has been an All-Star summer for the Lakers. Just because they didn't get Kawhi doesn't mean they failed. If Rob Pelinka's name was David Griffin, he'd be getting a ton of credit right now.

Nah my story is Rob ain't some cap wizard.

But that's how Laker fans like to roll. It's not about Magic...it's about the wand and the Mentality.

Rob did a good job...but the way some of y'all painting dude is ridiculous.

Here let me try...the master plan all along was to trade for AD last year and going nuclear in doing so. Give em the picks cause we did that this summer anyways. Give em Kuz, as long as we don't waste yr 1 of our Bron investment. Let them dump Solomon, cause Kawhi ain't on the way, Butler and Ky want something else and we don't need that max slot. Instead let's just take our 20m+ into 2019 free agency...plus Solomon is an expiring deal anyways and can open up that much more cap for summer 2020. Plus if he takes up a slot, maybe Kcp doesn't have to haha.

This Kawhightmare could have been avoided altogether.

So forget the "shrewd" dumping of Moe, Bonga, JJ and the clairvoyance of giving JJ that rest of the season contract, I guess Rob failed in that master plan of bringing in AD last year for the playoff stretch. Oh Magic was still here...he's the one that f***ed that up. ;)

Sometimes the rhetoric is so over the top. Are either of these views even remotely widely held?

I just wish Rob had done this:

    Jeff Green, not Dudley.
    Wes Mathews, not Daniels.
    Morris, not KCP.

Imagine Green, Mathews, and Morris on this team.

Seriously vash you are so hell bent and all over the place in your hypothetical unicorn of an off season that you in your armchair think should have been done better ..... in the face of what we are going to put on the floor for this year and next likely.... I can't even follow it. Whatever man .... you and Magic. I love the team we are going to war with. Agree to just scratch my head over what you're doing here now.

Quinn Cook has been a Laker fan all his life. His dad who passed away when Quinn was 14 yrs old was also a die hard Lakers fan. “Pops up Heaven going crazy.” (RiP DAD) LAKESHOW FB_IMG_1562622671121.jpg FB_IMG_1562622667777.jpg FB_IMG_1562622664166.jpg

So my shoulda woulda coulda holds no substance, yet your Beal hypothetical is the real deal?

Kcp has a no-trade clause. Danny Green/Kuz/McGee aggregate to 20.6m and can only bring back 25.9m in salary. Beal is priced at 27.1m. So that means another cheap player, like Caruso, has to be added, but is that enough for the Wiz? We can only sweeten the deal with our 2020 1st which works be projected to be low with a Bron/AD/Beal trio or we can go farther into the future and give them our first available unprotected 1st round pick, which is 2023.

Is that enough substance for you? Haha

Just like I can't follow your constant Magic digs. Been scratching my head on those but enough is dandruff...it's time to critique our current FO. Good job, Rob...but imo, not good enough.

Do we still have a roster spot? If so I wonder if we leave it open hoping for an Iggy buyout or go for Korver on the minimum now.

Mine was an example, but it could be any example you'd like. It could be Wiggins. It could be Love. It could be whatever, but that's hard to predict. What you're doing is playing Monday morning QB with moves that were already made. In that case, none of those moves you're using as an example are ones that hold much more value than what we've done. Like I said, it comes down from your examples to Cook/KCP vs. Harkless/protected 1st. To me that's splitting hairs.

My constant Magic digs started with his indisputable subversive actions for selfish and self serving reasons starting with the night he blindsided the entire organization at the beginning of the most critical off season since West brought in Shaq and Kobe ..... through his TV interviews ..... and oh by the way hold my beer some more Mag says with Turners' article this morning quoting Mag complementing and congratulating Clippersnake Leonard and the Clippers on how they planned and executed all of that. That's your boy!

Moves that were already made was Kawhi to cLips.

At that moment in time, it was us with 32m and the Mavs at 22m. Miami didn't stretch-waive Anderson yet and needed to pull off a move to avoid the apron.

Green is the only notable free agent and if he goes off the board we have a crack at Marcus Morris through our Klutch alliance.

Kcp and Caruso are bound to us via their bird rights/RFA. Cook and Boogie are near minimum deals that can be signed into that space. So the debate becomes Mcgee or Bradley with our room exception.

Meanwhile let's see if we can't get into this Russ to Miami potential deal and exploit it for our gain.

Anyways to each their own. You applaud Rob with this current contingency and I think otherwise. Roster development is however you want to make it.

I would have preferred to be in better position to bring in a legit difference maker than handing the lion's share of our cap to Green and Kcp.

My boy is the one that won 5 rings with Showtime.

I guess Rambis won 4 and Rob tried to "stick it to us" that one time he was threatening to have Kob join the cLips which would make him the cLippermamba (yuck). So I guess you can ride with your boys too :p

We all loved him with Showtime. Are you kidding seriously that excuses what he did to us and cost us going forward in public perception .... over the past 4 months? It was damaging as **** and inexcusable to many of us here.

No point in Korver with Daniels and Cook. They don’t play d either.

Idk how we didn’t get Morris and we got all these small guards

Excuse me for butting in. But if you're talking about last year. KCP did not have a no trade clause. As a matter of fact he was an UFA.

Yeah he did. At least here at LB that seemed to be the common knowledge. Not sure what you got to dispute.

He has a defacto no trade clause this season because of his one year Bird Rights. He had the same last year.
