Puig re-injured his hammy just now during rehab, running to 1st base. He gonna be out a lot longer than we think.
Before the season, if I told you that for the first 30 games, we would see Kershaw struggling, Puig injured, Ryu injured, Jansen injured, no Dee, no Kemp, No Hanley.... Would you even think we would win more than 50% of our games? 40%?? We are 20-10 baby!! And best hitting team, best bullpen, and best run differential in the entire league! Good time to be a Dodger fan. Let's beat up on the Marlins starting tomorrow!!
It's still a BAD time to be a Dodger fan until all of us can watch the games! I haven't been to the stadium this season because of it. And I'm starting to worry about Kershaw. He needs to turn this crap around. We're not going to keep this up if he can't figure out his problems.
What IS up with Kershaw? Is it a confidence thing after the playoffs? Is there some physical issue that he is trying to soldier through? Has he changed his mechanics? Inquiring minds want to know.
Just sign up for a free LiveStream account, search for Dodgers, then boom! Some dude name Roberto streams almost every game from his home!
As for Kershaw, his peripheral numbers are actually not bad. He's had a lot of bad luck, like slow dribblers going for RBI base hits at the most inopportune moments. Also, his slider hasn't been working very well. But last game he pitched a gem for his 100th career win! Too bad Paco let a couple of his runners score, so the box score doesn't accurately reflect how well Kershaw actually pitched. He was hitting his spots all game. Fastball and slider were on point, and curveball mostly, outside of a few that just missed the outside corners. I'm not worried about him at all. His numbers weren't the greatest first month last year, but I think he's settled down and ready to mow down the competition.
I honestly don't expect us to be there at the end of the year (but next year in the even year is a different story). We have a gaping hole at 3B and outside of MadBum and Lincecum, our starters are subpar. Dodgers will make a couple big moves at the trade deadline and be in the thick of it.
Yeah you guys had a bit of a rough offseason. I'm pretty surprised we're at where we are. Our pitching has been underwhelming besides Greinke and we're just patching things together with our bench. Ryu out for the year, Kershaw with a slow start, no real closer... I hope we go get Hamels or something because otherwise you and Arizona and San Diego will catch up eventually.
They got it done finally yesterday. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b...l-reportedly-agreed-to-tuesday-063248249.html On another note Charter is acquiring Time Warner Cable and first up on the agenda, when it passes regulatory hurdles much more easily than the larger Comcast takeover, will be putting the Dodgers back on TV. Ireland was talking yesterday saying that should put more pressure on the other hold out providers like DirecTV, Dish etc.
Sure now a majority of cable holders will have it in the city, but unless the price drops there's just no way the satellite companies pick it up. GAWD I HOPE THE PRICE DROPS... Anyway, the trade was pretty underwhelming. We don't need Callaspo and Stults isn't very good. The big thing was getting Thomas and Jaime who can now be flipped for another ace type of starter!
The big thing really was to make room for Hector Olivera who will be our new starting third baseman next month or early July.
