The problem with D’Angelo is that he’s hella stupid and has bad judgement off the court. The whole Nick Young thing was just a stupid idea to begin with.

His recent off the court incident of getting caught with marijuana in his checked bag at the airport is dumb as well. Your a multimillionaire. Why do you need to pack your own weed and check it in somewhere that you know they X-ray your bag?

The weed isn’t an issue, it’s his dumb judgement to begin with that led him to pack his own weed and bring it to the airport. He could have just bought his own weed wherever he landed but decided to go this route instead.

As one of the DLO supporters on here, i am not sold on bringing him back. Not sure we can get him at the right price and definitely not sure about the optics.

The whole point of shipping him out was to end up with a max guy.

If we’re giving out a large contract then I want it to be Butler or Kawhi. I can be talked into Kemba and probably even Kyrie.

Otherwise, divide that money up among a handful of players giving us some depth.

He’s alright, feisty. Not on Bradley’s level. I’d be ok with curry, Bradley or Beverly.

I don't agree that the only rules are those we make up. I'm an ethicist; it's my job to discover the rules to govern situations like this. But that's besides the point.

If you're talking about value as a human being, that's one thing, and I don't care to dispute it. Russ's basketball value is now insanely high compared to what it was when we traded him. 21 year old good prospect with off court issues vs. 23 year old All-Star with one off court issue in the last two years (psh - weed; no biggie). I can't see how it was a win, especially if LA is TRADING FOR AD. That can happen without LeBron. And if we had two max slots instead of LeBron and a max slot, we could have assembled the same team here without having lost Russ.

So far, here are the top rated PG FAs (using my system):

    1. Kyrie +12 (Top producer)
    2. Kemba +8 (Kyrie minus the elite shooting)(Top per 36 producer)
    3. Brogdon +8 (Best shooter)
    4. Russell +3 (Second most productive per 36 min)

Another name to throw out there if we miss on the max free agents is Avery Bradley (team option with Memphis which they will likely decline). Bradley will probably get $10 mil/season, so even if AD declines to waive his $4 mil trade kicker, we could get Bradley and break up the remaining $14 mil on Patrick Beverly. Keep in mind Beverly/Bradley was the defensive backcourt for most of last season for the Clippers. Imagine that defensive back court anchored by AD in the post.

Resign McGee and Bullock for cheap. Cory Joseph for the room exception. Sign vet minimum ring chasers to fill out the bench like Ariza, Jeff Green (I would have said the Morris twins but I think someone offers them more money), Ed Davis, and Taj Gibson.

Your roster actually looks fairly deep and compliments AD/LeBron with this rotation:
    Beverly/Joseph/Caruso
    Bradley/Bullock/THT
    King/Ariza
    Kuzma/Green/Gibson
    AD/McGee/Davis

I’ve read this a lot in other places as well. We got lebron and AD... aren’t those our max players?

We have the ability to free up just about 32 million so we have enough room for one more max slot in the 7-9 year range (Kawhi, Kyrie, Butler, Kemba).

We are looking forward to a post LeBron continuity of dominance and if we can ensure that with Kawhi then the FO will go for it. Plus the fact that this past season shows how mediocre at teambuilding this FO is. At least pay for excellence, it's the Dr. Buss way

I have Beverley at a +1. (best defender so far, one of the least productive)
Joseph -10. (One of the worst shooters, one of the least productive)

Another contingency to fill out the roster after a potential Kawhi/Butler signing is DRose and Tim Frazier.

You gotta keep your superstars happy.

A rotation of Rondo/DRose/Frazier works for me. Add Lance/Caruso as guys that can share some time at the 2 behind Kawhi or Butler and we're cooking with our soon to be realized triandem.

I like Frazier cheap - and I did last time he was on the market. He's a -8, which is not good, but if he's cheap and keeps guys happy, fine.
Rose is a 0, which isn't bad at all, but he's the worst defender at the spot so far and isn't getting better with age. But he clearly offers more offense than Rondo and Frazier.

Since DLo came up in here, time to drop this:

    Not Kobe approved.

He's grown up and matured some since he left, but I'm still going to pass.

my wish list goes as follows:

    1. kawhi
    2. kyrie
    3. butler
    4. shooters (redick, green, curry, etc) didn't list brogdon because i'm pretty sure some team will pay him a ton of money

i'd love to have d-lo back but he should be their #4 option if anything. and i'd value signing depth/shooters above bringing d-lo back for sure. would not want them throwing a max contract at him

I’m on the “only use the max slot for Kawhi or use it for guys like Beverly, Bradley, shooters, shooters, shooters and center.
I’m also sure that AD will start at the 4 (but play mostly 5) and Kuz is coming off the bench for scoring. So we are going to need a lot of starting players.
Sixers had a crap bench and one of the best starting line ups. That is a cautionary tale of no depth.
