Our whole roster will be on load management lol

Aging and/or high mileage injury prone stars
Delicate rookie 2nd rounders not used to the pounding of an NBA season
Hangers on trying to get the playoffs and score their next contract, but won't play slightly sore

No, but so far it doesn’t seem like there is enough reassurance.

I’m just slowly becoming part of the group that thinks that, yeah....if we can get another superstar, then great....but what happens when one or two of these guys gets hurt? So I’m all for role players now because I feel like the load management will pay bigger dividends then 3 superstars would.

There’s no reassurances to who could come in off the bench for fill whatever roles would be filled with the superstars.

So that’s all. I’d rather split money on people than just solely one a maybe.

Kawhi isn’t going to say where he wants to go, but that’s the thing. I mean we didn’t even get a shot with Paul George last year. What happens if we don’t get a shot with anyone still like Kyrie, Kawhi, or Kemba. Or Jimmy?

@Savory Griddles This isn't the first time a smaller market team with deep pockets has pulled such a move. But just compare the media coverage the Lakers are getting to that of the Clippers. First, the take is that the Lakers don't have the pieces to offer the Pelicans, then the narrative switches to one of the Lakers getting "fleeced." Now it is all about how the Lakers have shot themselves in the foot with this July 6th deadline. Meanwhile, if you look at those who aren't on an ESPN-type payroll, you'll see a completely different narrative. In contrast, I was consistently reporting the Lakers discussions with the Pelicans through the process and have told you that the Lakers indeed have a back up plan for cleverly trading assets to free up cap space, rather than saying they are "scrambling" to paint a scenario where none of this was planned ahead of time.

In the meantime, you'll hear very little negativity about the Clippers. This has all very likely been orchestrated. And if you pay close attention to some of the articles, these "executives" and "league insiders" who are saying the Lakers do not have a shot at free agents, could very well just be Steve Ballmer, Doc Rivers, and co.

I don't blame the Clippers at all. I've worked with a lot of wealthy men over the years, and if you take someone like Ballmer who's used to buying his way to everything, the fact that he has to sit and watch the Lakers be the star of the show in LA while they are owned by a family with a fraction of his net worth probably eats at his ego daily, especially knowing no amount of money will remedy the situation. He's just trying to spin what he has control over, but everyone knows the Clippers will never become the premier team in the city of Los Angeles.

Given Kawhi's disposition, I doubt any of this concerns him. Unless he's already made up his mind, the Lakers will get a meeting, and everyone is preparing as though that is the case. I would just suggest you be extremely wary of any non factual media coverage concerning the Lakers. I will of course do my best to give you an unbiased view of what the Lakers are thinking internally, but my perspective, as most people's, is limited.

    Best,
    Mr. Rambis

If there's one thing AEG is tied into, it's LA entertainment, so while I don't have concrete proof of what I'm saying, I will give them the benefit of the doubt if they tell me something around this. Even moreso than any trade or free agency rumors.

@KareemtheGreat33 Lakers are not pursuing Horford as far as I know. I did ask about it after hearing the news about Boston but was told that his skillset overlaps too much with Anthony Davis and it doesn't make sense to bring him off the bench. Vogel does not want to play a big lineup of LeBron-Al-Anthony after spending some time post-Orlando studying modern offenses. Lakers are targeting a guard above all else, unless Kawhi is an option.

@Mr. Rambis Chris Carter hinted yesterday that Kawhi must be impressed with the business opportunities afforded by the team he will sign with. AEG and their partners must come into that Kawhi meeting strong with the goods meaning 100s of millions earnings beyond basketball

@KareemtheGreat33 Didn't hear the Cris Carter take but that probably came from Uncle Dennis if true. I think I posted about this a couple weeks back but his projected non basketball earnings over the next few years will be well above $100MM, based on our internal calculations.

That is if he signs with the Lakers, right? How much for the other teams like the Clippers or Knicks?

@KareemtheGreat33 I don't think Knicks are a serious consideration, so we won't draw up a comparison. For the Clippers, he'll lose out on a lot of brand value. I haven't seen those numbers yet, but it won't be anywhere in the same ballpark. He won't get the same type of exposure on a Clippers team with little star power compared to the Lakers with Lebron and Anthony.

Clippers, based on my knowledge, will likely sell on Kawhi's ability to be the undisputed primary option on a team with a better front office/coaching situation and a cleaner slate overall. Jerry West in particular is an excellent communicator in this regard, from what I've heard. If Kawhi really isn't interested in teaming up with other stars, then that may be the nail in the coffin for the Lakers. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, given that his latest championship was accomplished without another superstar caliber player and instead with a lot of excellent supporting players. But, the dollar amounts will speak very well to a salty Uncle Dennis. On the basketball front, I think the situations are pretty clear and not much needs to be said by either side. It'll just depend on what Kawhi wants basketball wise, and how important the business side is when it factors into it. The Lakers feel confident about their ability to pitch, but are in the dark as much as pretty much everyone else at this point.

Sooo...do they have the money to resign Butler and Reddick too?

Kinda strange, guess he wants to go back to playing 4 next to Embiid.

Hard pass. Way too rich for my blood. He'd be a great fit in SA with Pop if they were in a position to get him.
