I'm trying to think of a scenario in which we are 4 and Philly is 2, and Philly is set on either Mudiay or Russell. That way, Philly can get either, and more, and we get a shot of one Okafor or Towns, as it's probably most likely NY and Minny are set on both if they are in the Top 3.

    Say...

    1. NY
    2. Philly
    3. Minny
    4. LA

What do you think it would take? Would you add #27 + Tarik Black?

I'd add anyone not named Kobe, JC, or Randle to move up one spot to get Okafor and I really like Black. Okafor is a starting center starting opening night and for the next fifteen years (as long as there's no injury). You know what kind of luxury that is to not worry about a front court position for 1 1/2 decades? Ask San Antonio. If you can move a backup or role player or another rookie who will be a backup for that, you do it and don't give it a second thought.

Okafor and Winslow? Heck yeah, sign me up for that one. Instant executive of the year for Mitch for putting together a core of Clarkson-Winslow-Randle-Okafor

@OmarE swap out Winslow for Johnson and Middleton for Carroll and that's my ideal/dream scenario.

Guys, I am afraid that, if we have those kinds of expectations... we might end up getting disappointed. I know it's fun to discuss those scenarios but man... we need a lot of luck for something like that to happen.

^It's fun to speculate, though. Less than 3 weeks away from the lottery, and considering the season we just had, I say we let people live their pipe dream scenarios out on Lakers Ball!. We're not running a farm system, though. I have a hard enough time we're not trading this pick if we land it. 2 picks in the top 10? I don't we'll have enough patience to wait 2-3 years to see if these prospects actually develop into something.

Okafor is the NBA-ready, though. As much as I don't want to build out of the post, and consider it less efficient than other areas, he'll contribute immediately, you'll get younger, and he's on a cost-controlled contract. That's the safest bet currently, IMO.

I know what you're saying, and I am certainly having a lot of fun reading your dream scenarios... but frankly, the closer we are, the more afraid I become... Because, technically, we might get nothing at all.

Yeah, I am not at all expecting us to get Okafor and Winslow. Keeping my fingers crossed we don't get screwed and end up without a pick at all.

If someone could guarantee that we're going to keep our pick and get Johnson or Hezonja, I'd be ecstatic.

If we were to draft Hezonja, we need to draft Upshaw at 27 (chance at a starting center for the next 10 years), then I say we make a huge push at Tobias Harris. Our starting five would look like this Upshaw/Randle/Harris/Kobe/Clarkson. Hezonja comes off the bench (starts when Kobe inevitably gets hurt).

With that lineup, we have a ton of versatility. Harris can play the 3 or 4. Randle can play the 4 or 3. Hezonja can play the 2 or 3. Swaggy can play the 2 or 3. Essentially foul trouble would be a non issue if everyone's healthy. We can mix things around based on matchups. Heck, we can go real small and play Randle at the 5, Harris at the 4 and Hezonja at the 3. Tons of versatility.

I agree. If we've got a shot at Okafor and we blow it... I will officially jump in the "dump Mitch and Jim" driver seat. That's a home-run, easy, now let's go home.

I just wanted to see what people thought about his value. If you've got a shot at WCS and Johnson, I figured that'd be pretty tempting.

A bit early to declare that I think. If we by some miracle won the top pick, I'd think much more research and watching individual workouts, the draft combine, all go into who we would take. To say we'd take Towns right now, dunno about that one.

Yeah just random speculation by Ford for some clicks. No big deal. He'll go back and change it once our draft board pictures come out in Backstage Lakers.

Good news for us since we probably won't be picking one, but would at least have a small shot at Okafor.
