Klutch didn't work with David Griffin in fact it was Klutch that pissed off the entire NO organization with the leaks and caused Jeannie to almost want to sever ties with Rich Paul until Rich repaired the relationship. Lets get credit where it's due, Rob pulled this off in spite of Klutch. Thanks entirely to his machinations, Rob now has LBJ & AD on his roster and 34 mil to go shopping for a 3rd come July 1, if I were the league I would commence with the pants sh***ing now.
Still waiting for the rest of the pieces to fall into place, but keeping our most cost effective asset in the process is a huge Win..
If he can sign Kawhi this free agency after the AD trade, he deserves a statue outside Staples Center.
In spite? If it wasn't for Klutch we wouldn't even be in this position in the first place. Did Klutch pretty much line up LA or bust (see deadline trade demand and LA/NY short-list in June)? Did Klutch have good rapport with Griff (see Cleveland)? Did Klutch deliver Bron to LA without locking up a second star first (see Kawhi trade)? Rob deserves credit for keeping Kuz but adding 2 future 1sts (and we don't even know the protections yet) is insane...unless it was also used to buy us time to get a 3rd max guy. #TBD
Klutch got the ball rolling no doubt. But Rob was the one on the phone with Griffin. Rob got the deal done. The man has been savaged for the last few weeks. Time to give props.
Never really understood the hate for Pelinka. He was working under an incompetent boss in Magic. If Kobe approves I approve
You also forget that reports were that we were going to take on Solomon Hill's 13 mil bad contract at the deadline which we did not. My post's intent is a lot more pro-Rob than anti-Klutch so you can get off your defensive stance about Klutch, obviously RP worked it so his boys ended up here from their end but we still had to deal with NO ownership and the fact is that is where Klutch's leaking got us in an issue with NO, relationship with Griffin aside there was still talk that Gale didn't want to deal with us. Adding the 2 future firsts is insane is easy to say for an armchair GM and I'm sure you could have negotiated better vs David Griffin but I'm giving Rob props for this, retaining Kuz and and not taking back Hills contract was a well done in my book.
It's not that serious, bud. If the picks were used to buy us time for a 3rd max then the price for admission was worth it. Till then, we were bidding vs ourselves and if you consider the deadline, that was to protect our 1st year investment in Bron...as it turns out we missed the playoffs. The 4th pick was great incentive, but that was through the grace of the bball gods. If we took on Solomon's expiring deal then just follow BK's Crabbe market and attach the 2 1sts we included in this trade to dump Solomon and get our max spot back. Like I said TBD. I world have preferred sacrificing 2 1st rounders if we spared BI.
If you say so, pal. The value of 2 future 1st on a Laker team that will be competing for the foreseeable future will not buy out Hill's deal. We don't know what the other bids were, for sure Grif was playing them up but he could have also simply started the season with AD on the roster and see what he gets by Feb. Meanwhile LBJ rots on the vine. I think Rob did a great job, I mean it's cool of you want to blast me for sticking up for him or giving R Paul crap for making our relationship with NO ownership a little more tedious but you haven't changed my opinion at all. Rob did fine in my view.
