I completely agree with you there. I sincerely feel like BI is going to be a star. I liked Nance, Jules and DLo but not to the point of selling on them quick for a star.

BI is the only guy on out roster that gives me pause tho. It has to be a superstar.... Ill be torn up about it, but if it's for AD/Kawhi type superstars and we still get to keep Kuz and possibly Hart... That's a f***ing win in my book.

Btw: way to come strong with it on your first post Heej

I can confirm the Woj report today. It's somewhat old news though, since Rob has restarted his search for a 3 team deal a few days back when I had posted it here. I didn't know precisely why at the time, but looks like we know now that the ask came from Griffin.

Very busy day today. You likely won't hear from me again until later tomorrow, though. :(

    Best,
    Mr. Rambis

Not to be disrespectful but how do you know that we've seen BI's max potential? Guy is still a baby in basketball terms... his body hasn't even matured yet.

I agree he might have a breakout season but a lot of it was from a deployment/usage standpoint, he’s a very good wing scorer but operated far too much in the pick and roll when he wasn’t ready to make those reads yet. I’d look for him to get the ball on the move or off cuts more but the Walton offence didn’t give much chance for those. He’s a gifted one on one scorer though, much better at using his length than before and has deceptive “bony” strength now, along with very good footwork.

I get people wanting him to get game reps for the pick and roll to learn how to though, and he is improving in that. I think all the young guys have an absurd work ethic though, although kuz probably has the best one. As for his late season surge, what Ingram said was henjust struggled trying to fit in for awhile and eventually just said “f*** it”

We will never know how well this team could have been unfortunately. Lakers killed it in the draft and they never stayed patient enough, especially us fans, to see it through. Had the Lakers ran the team like adults instead of like immature fans, we may have seen it. Luke Walton was a young coach that could have grown with the young team and ushered in a new way of creating the next Lakers title team with home grown guys but no one wanted to wait and see.

The saddest part of all this is the collateral damage its made for fans of Lakers greats. Magic, Byron, Kurt Rambis. I loved all three of these guys and never imagined I would ever feel the way I do about them the way I feel now. Just sad overall.

It’s the curse of the Lakers. The Lakers never really built from scratch. We lucked on on Magic and Kobe as generational talents, and dominant bigs with Cap and Shaq.

Now everyone expects us to be competitive ASAP. What did that lead the FO to do? Sell the kids and go big.

sold for flexibility, no less. so few marquee FAs switch teams, and we put basically all the eggs in that basket. just silliness. trading youth for davis is fine. trading youth for a shot at luring davis in FA would be stupid.

I know this makes me feel alot better. I watched both Magic and Kobe from year one. This is my opinion and i think many will agree, none of our youth have shown anything close to resembling what Magic and Kobe looked like when they were youngin's in the league.

    AD does.

Yes we are taking a risk if these kids pull a KL and blossom slowly. But the reality is for every KL there are many many more Wiggins.

Bird in hand type of deal for me.

Yeah BUT what if in 2-3 years it's just the one remaining bird AD with LBJ's decline or injury and around the league are all our other used-to-have birds just starting to and already flying in the league and for the next 10 freaking years. I just have this sick feeling hindsight in 5 years is going to be a B****.

It’s mortgaging the future of course. Our best chance is now, not 5-10 years from now. By then, Zion will have taken over and we’d be angling to bring him here lol.

Honestly though, this is it. It’s now or never, that’s already set in motion with LeBron. Now we have to do everything to take advantage of that or it would all go in vain.

Say it works perfectly for that short window of 1 or 2 years and we get 1 title. This is just for sake of fandom discussion. But after that title things go south and we're capped with our top heavy team and we suck again for the next 8 years? That 1 title I know would be worth it for a lot of Lakers fans. I know I and many others would rather have seen our young talent, I guess starting with DLO, Randle, Nance, Clarkson gone ...... have instead all of them through (Garland?) been developed properly for an equal shot at that 1 ring plus as well a shot at the next GSW type of run. We had the young Bigs and the young talent to POSSIBLY do it. That is more exciting to me. Even leaving Kuz out of it since we got him in the DLO trade.

Counterpoint, what if the kids don't advance and their ceiling are the Wiggins of the world? Perennial playoff fodder at best, which is the worst position to be in because you never get the into the lottery to get that generational talent, and are mired in mediocrity for the forseeable future. Too good for the lottery and not good enough to win it all.

Does AD + Lebron give us a fighting chance to win the CHIP with just those two and a bunch of 1 year rentals? I believe so and am willing to bet on that.

Don't get me wrong, i totally understand where you are coming from. I am just not that high on our youth. If i was, I'd be saying the same thing as you.

Yeah I know. But I am that high on them and don't care about Minn situation. With what DLO became this year guess we can put him as exhibit A. I'm more excited about Randle, Ingram, Lonzo, Kuzma and Garland and Hart. As well as what Zubac's going to be in 2 years. If he can't be as good as Marc Gasol I will be surprised.

Hey, Mr. Rambis. You stated I believe last Friday that “there's a higher priority item that I'm needed on and that I will know details on Monday”.

Did you actually get to know those details?

I think we disagree strongly on what these guys are and can be. Russ and Randle look like they did here, imo. Zu won't sniff young Marc gasol territory, to my eye. I just don't see a perennial all star in the whole bunch. You don't trade them for space, but you trade any of them for actual all stars.

If any gm agreed that these guys had that potential, they'd already be gone, imo.
