Pulled from my butt after reading in multiple reports he was gone "a lot". Hence the disclaimer within the parenthesis.
I decided to wait, watch and read about this situation before i posted. Yesterday never ever should have happened. Magic is 100% wrong as a Laker supporter, fan and someone who is supposed to embody the Lakers. Nothing he did yesterday helped in any way shape or form the team which says he loves so much. This not debatable on any level. I am beyond infuriated at Magic. I found myself asking, why would he do this? What is the motivation for this? Surely he knows that crapping on the Lakers and Pelinka isn't going to help anything. Why? None of this would have happened had Magic not quit so abruptly; it raised questions about his abilities as a POBO and executive. He brought this on himself. So now he goes on national TV to "clear" his name while throwing the entire Lakers org under the buss? None of this makes any sense from a motivation standpoint........ unless it was done purposely to get back at the Lakers. I believe Mr. Rambis pointed this out and it is the only rational explanation for Magic's behavior. I believe Magic didn't want to quit, he was pushed out for whatever reason . He quit before he was fired. To clear his name and to get back at the Lakers he went on national TV and pretty much took a big dump on the Laker's org. and possibly sabotaging the Laker's summer plan. "Hey if Pelinka backstabbed me...Magic Johnson...he'll backstab you too." Magic our "ambassador" just told the world..."don't trust Rob." right before the most important time of the year for us. He even dragged Kobe in to this! Unless something changes, Earvin Johnson, while i respect him a player....he might as well be wearing cbag green for all i care. Maybe he should.
funny how some thought that interview (prior to it happening), that Magic would be PC and be a pitch man for us to the national media lol
when is Vasashi going to come clean about losing a bet and having to post and support completely irrational takes every day? I mean, it has to be wearing on him. But that being said, he is making a superb effort.
Thank you for saying so well and so powerfully what a lot of us feel toward Magic after all this blew up starting with him quitting in the freaking tunnel right before the last game of the season. That was a phenomenally bad thing to do all around. Then Magic says to himself, "Hold My Beer". So pissed.
Thank you for this great summation of how I feel. Magic acts like a petulant child... I guess that's what happens when one is coddled their entire life. The Lakers need to hire someone very credible to be the PBO to stanch the bleeding and provide stability and credibility to the front office for potential free agents. If they don't we will strike out this offseason. Mark my words. This is a vulnerable time and Jeannie needs to show some leadership. The optics right now are horrible and aren't going to get better unless something is done.
maybe you missed it but FO already made it official, they're not hiring a PBO anymore.....I heard on espn710 that there wasn't even such a position prior so they actually created that roll specifically for Magic. So we know Jeanie really doesn't know what hell needs to be done for the team as far as ops goes.
Hey Jeanie has a very important brunch and a cutest dog contest today. She is very busy and cannot he bothered. Give her some respek.
LMFAOOOO dude this literally made me spit out my coffee just now...maybe because there's a good chance this is actually true? God help us.
His new interview was yesterday, Magic should “commit” to the high road but chose to essentially murder everyone while trying to claim he’s the victim in all of this, which even if true, could of waited until after free agency.
Vasashi, you gotta stop bro. Stop defending Magic. His interview yesterday was indefensible. Nothing he did will help us because we know that nothing is going to changge...he was better off telling Jeanie this in private...not publicly to put pressure on her to make changes when he's no longer part of the Lakers!
Haha some Laker fans are indefensible. I'm not trying to direct this at anyone in particular, but let's see if I'm generally in the ballpark of public perception around here: When we start season off poorly: Luke is generally a bad coach and we need him gone. Why does the FO keep allowing these type of hires. After admonishing gets leaked: Magic is wrong for going at Luke like that. Before trade deadline: Lakers need to make a move to get Bron a star to pair with so we don't waste 1yr of Bron's prime. During/after deadline when the AD package leaks: Magic/Bron are so wrong for f***ing the youth like that. Magic still at the helm: He's trash and he didn't get shooters and what's with these 1yr deals and I can't believe Jeanie didn't go with someone more established. After absentee leaks lead to Magic stepping down: I can't believe dude bailed on us and what are we going to do with our now vacated president role for someone to fill. Dude left us in such a bad spot. Going to draft combine with a vacated president position and coaching position to fill: Jeanie better get this right and it better be Lue paired with Thibs/Vogel Coming out the draft combine: f*** Magic for putting our new FO on blast to get roles established and for calling out the mixing and matching of entities. JKidd with Vogel will work the same way that it worked in year 1 of Magic/Pelinka. Also screw giving too much power to Klutch...who cares about wasting year 2 of Bron. After Magic stepped down: Gawd no one from the Lakers is saying s***. They owe it to the fans to make an explanation of all this. After Magic's 1st Take: Magic should have STFU and nothing needed to be said about the state of our FO. Magic calling out all the whispers and leaky bulls*** needed to happen. f*** that noise and just like Magic spearheaded the Westhead for Riles Showtime coaching decision, so too should his public plea to Jeanie be held where true CBA folks take the helm. Ask yourself this...Magic is big picture and wanted 2max superstars to replace MozDeng. If Rob is the CBA guy to bring that to fruition, the missteps that took place are not entirely on Magic if limited options were available. You don't need to look further than to how the coaching search transpired...that was all without Magic btw. So who really wanted JKidd this whole time? #StayFreakaLeakyMyFriends
Magic wanted Luke gone. Instead Luke outlasted Magic and still may be here if that lawsuit wasn't in the pipeline. Magic wanted to work with someone of his own choice. He was forced to work with Rob. Magic stepped down and said if he didn't have carte blanche then Jeanie needed to find a Prez to replace him that possibly could. Month & a half later, she chose not to when there appeared to be many willing participants if a call was made. Magic was scheduled to show up on First Take 2 weeks ago...before the Vogel presser was even scheduled. The Lakers knowing this, still refused comment and scheduled the Vogel presser later that day anyways. Bottom line: you can't judge Magic the PBO, cause he was never really given that full authority. I mean how could you, if you can't get the coach and GM you want to work with? Meanwhile our current FO sure bumbled up their own coaching selection.... without Magic there to collect the blame. Anyways, dude owned up to his own mistakes and said his own words. Meanwhile in El Shhegundo, sauces continue to whisp in the wind.
Why are you so convinced that Magic doing this is going to change anything within the Lakers when he NO LONGER WORKS THERE? Do you really think his words will prompt action? If you really think this "had to be done" in order for Jeanie to make moves...i have a bridge to sell you. Also, Magic leaving the way he did in such a public manner didn't exactly help us in getting a coach as the perception of the Lakers was...not great. You think this is going to help us draft better? Hire better? Get the free agents we want? It won't...it really hurts us and once again puts us in the limelight when we were just starting to get back on our feet with a new coach and the 4th pick.. You will NEVER convince me that Magic doing this on national TV was a "good" thing or that it'll force jeanie to do something. It won't...and this isn't the same situation as Magic forcing a coaching change 40 years ago...because Magic was a PLAYER back then FOR THE LAKERS and he was their most important player so he had a ton of influence...now? Magic is just a "fan" of the Lakers. He holds ZERO influence and he surely isn't going to "influence" Jeanie from sitting in a chair on FIRST TAKE of all places.
