Agreed. Some of his dunks had that 'dayum' factor to them; I've watched Winslow and Johnson both closely, but this young man is the better player, IMO. He'd be my first wing I take, and I think as we get closer toward the draft and we start to get a clearer picture of what these players start looking like, I have a feeling he'll skyrocket on GM's boards.

Just to picture you how cocky and how much he believes in himself...
He said if he were in colleague he would be clear #1 pick...

Russell, Winslow, Henzoja, Towns, WCS, Okafor in no particular order presently. I'll start to really dial down an order when the workout of each individual players comes through; right now, those are my top prospects..

To be fair, there are gaps in his game; I pointed them out earlier in this thread. The stuff he does on a basketball court make for a great highlight reel, but if I were working him out, I'd set him up to fail and see how he reacted. Loads of talent, but his makeup/character is especially important, IMO.

That's one thing I could say about Randall/Clarkson; no character issues. Hard-working young men who work their butts off to get better; I don't want anybody coming in and infecting that culture negatively that we're trying to achieve here in Lakerland...

Possibly. Who knows, right? That's the part about drafting 18-19 year old kids and placing such high expectations on them, right? I love the talent but they are going to be projects that take at least 2 years to contribute anything if at all. I like Henzoja. If he puts in the work and fine tunes some of the aspects of his game that need work, he'll be a very good player. If he doesn't he'll be a bust, but the physical raw talent is there.

BPA except for foreign draftees, then? Because Hezonja looks like the Best talent of this draft imo. He is what Exum was supposed to be if you believed the Exum hype last year( really didn't, like I am dubious of Towns)

No, best player available applies to everyone across the board. He looks great to you and I, but what if Mitch and Jim have a different opinion of him. That's where trusting the FO comes into play; whether it's Hezonja, Winslow, or whomever they decide to go after, I'll have to trust their judgment. At the very least, they deserve that much. I think he's very much the best wing in this draft, though.

Put me on the Hezonja train as well. The issue with most Euro prospects is that they can be too passive or soft. You don't have to worry about that with this kid.

I just spent a lot of time (in which I should have been grading) looking at a bunch of different mock drafts and player projections. Here are the fruits:

    4th pick:
    Consensus player: Emmanuel Mudiay (PG)
    Consensus position: G/PG
Most interesting player: Hezonja (he was available in almost all of the mocks)

    Late First
Consensus player: Cliff Alexander or Justin Anderson
    Consensus Position: Wing
Most interesting player: Jerian Grant (he was there in more than one mock)

    Second Round
Consensus player: Rashad Vaughn or Dakari Johnson
    Consensus Position: Big
    Most Interesting: Robert Upshaw

    Those possible players with projections:

    MUDIAY
First Season: 10 pts, 4 dimes, 4 boards
Potential Peak: 18 pts, 7 dimes, 5 boards

    ANDERSON
First Season: 3 points, .5 boards, 1 assist
Potential Peak: 12 pts, 5 boards, 1 assist

    JOHNSON
First Season: 4 points, 3 rebounds, .5 assists
Potential Peak: 12 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist

    VAUGHN
First Season: 5 points, 2.5 boards, 2 assists
Potential Peak: 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists

    ALEXANDER
First Season: 3.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, .5 assists
Potential Peak: 7 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist

    HEZONJA
First Season: 6.5 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist
Potential Peak: 19.5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists

    UPSHAW
First Season: 4.5 points, 3 rebounds, .4 assists
Potential Peak: 12 points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 assists (and perhaps 3+ blocks)

According to this, big men in draft won't be taken by Philly with 1st pick.

Report: Sixers to select D’Angelo Russell in 2015 NBA Draft
    Brett Pollakoff

The NBA Draft is two months away, and we won’t know the order of who picks where until the lottery is held on May 19.

But it’s fun to guess which teams might be targeting certain players before then, and we have one report that has the Sixers already settled on someone for their first-round selection.

From Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer:

The thought around the NBA is that the 76ers hope to select D’Angelo Russell in the NBA draft, according to a league executive.

“He’s the guy they want,” the executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Saturday. “That’s the word around the league. You know the Sixers. They won’t come out and say it, but he’s the guy they want.”

The executive said the team might have to nab one of the top two selections at the draft lottery on May 19 to get the former Ohio State combo guard.

The Sixers finished with the league’s third-worst record, which guarantees them a pick of no worse than sixth. They have a 15.6 percent chance of moving up to land the number one overall pick through the draft lottery process.

Even if the Philadelphia brass has put this information out there, there’s little reason to believe in it 100 percent. There’s a lot of misinformation planted in order for teams to position themselves for trades leading up to the draft, and though the Sixers might indeed have an affinity for Russell at this time, where they end up picking will have a lot to do with whether or not he’s the player they ultimately select.

Russell averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists while shooting 41.1 percent from three-point distance in his final college season at Ohio State. The shooting is what likely has Sixers GM Sam Hinkie intrigued the most, considering it was among the reasons he traded reigning Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams earlier this season.
