In related news Lavar Ball is seeking to copyright "Stay in yo lane" and any close derivative of the sort.

#BallDontLie (Sorry Sheed, he will copyright that too once Zo starts regularly hitting his FTs)

Yeah BUT .... again why put yourself out there to answer who knows what questions and agendas were raised by Magic quitting unexpectedly the way he did ..... if there was still the possibility of him being a f****** loose cannon with his need to strike back. Make no mistake that was Magic still pissed at Rob and telling the world so he could f*** him up as much as possible when, AGAIN, the timing was horrible and it hurt the team and owner he professes to love above all.

I can’t think of another basketball player ever with a bigger ego than Magic. So I’m sure that was part of it, if not most of it. I just hate the state of the Lakers under Jeannie’s tenure, and I’m tired of hearing he say, she say rumoring. So I’m fine with Magic pulling back the curtain to show what is going on. And in my opinion I think that bodes better for getting them to straighten up than if they continued to operate in secrecy. If everything was running well then I wouldn’t feel a need to see behind the curtain. But it’s not. 6 straight years of no playoffs is evidence.

    Exactly!

I for one was under the impression Jeanie was going for the head after she fired Jim. But that doesn't appear to be the case.

I also expected Magic being a successful businessman himself was a guy that was going to make the hard choices since he's been exposed to that in rubbing shoulders with titans of industry. He clearly had the opinion to clean shop and fire at least Luke and Rob, but that didn't appear to be the case. Now we know why.

Jeanie couldn't allow that to happen due to personal relationships she made. So at least to this fan, I'm happy someone in the FO shed light on a largely clandestine media sauce driven narrative.

Obviously, Magic was ego-trippin and decided to clarify that narrative as well to help himself...but I'm sure he's aware that no matter what he said today there were always going to be criticisms made towards him and the Lakers...so f*** leaks and sauces...I'll say it my damnself. "Jeanie, the folks around you need to stay in their lanes and you need to fix some things up there, cause s*** ain't right."

magic comparing his situation with riley or west leaving couldn't be more far off

riley left because he'd become a grade A a**hole and no one wanted to play for him anymore. west left simply to take on another challenge

magic left because he didn't want to fully commit to the job

Riley left because it was time he spread his wings

West left because of Phil Jackson

Magic left because he got called out on for not doing his job ala Shaq by Rob ala Kobe.

I can’t take Ramona’s reporting on Jeanie seriously anymore. She’s the official Jeanie mouthpiece and she maintains that to have the access she does. Ding still is to a degree, but Ramona seems to be Jeanie’s spin cycle.

    And that's far off...

You got Griff hiring Trajan to handle "day to day"...Utah made elevations within their team and the same Woj (the cbag sympathiser he is) who criticized Magic stated in his own words that new president Lindsey would delegate the day to day to his new GM.

That's two franchises now where the recent narrative behind presidents is that they are big picture and delegate the day to day to their GMs.

Go past the NBA and even corporate America has their bailouts to fund industry presidents and execs and their annual bonuses and business retreats/conventions...but I'm sure they earned it by being day to day and not exploiting their subordinates.

Magic was never branded as a day to day guy for us. Could he have done more? I'm sure that goes for everybody and anybody. He should have done more, but honestly that was never my expectation of him. It was his responsibility to bring back superstars to fill the Kobe void. He had to make the tough decisions like hiring and firing people. That's how I always looked at it.

The bottomline is: Prez of bball ops can hire their own GM and coach. If that's a struggle, then the title and it's perceived duties are folly. Magic is completely in the wrong if he hired Rob/Luke and they proceeded to fail/backstab him. That wasn't the case.

I'm with you on that Weez. When it comes to insiders, you're prophetic with that s***. You were one of the first to call Woj out iirc.

I mean look at this entry:

Dude talked for almost an hour in that April 9th impromptu presser. Yet, Ramona would have you believe that he didn't talk to Jeanie beyond feeling like he couldnt be free to tweet like Magic anymore.

So Ramona, all that "backstabbing" and "whisper" talk during that nearly hour presser was fan fiction?

When was Screamin A and First Take hyping up Magic coming in for his first public comments after stepping down:

So roughly a week for the FO to come out and get ahead of what Magic could say, with the Combine being the perfect venue for it, yet Jeanie/Lakers were "blindsided" again. Gtfoh!

Jeanie...I'm sincerely a fan of yours and want you to be the 2nd coming of the good Doc. Please...come out and tackle this head on. Crucify Magic for all I care (and hrs my guy), but come out the shadows and address the loyal fanbase.

Hard pass on anything from Ramona on this. Jeannie needs to get in front of the microphone and answer the tough questions.

Actually, would rather her not. She isn't eloquent enough to respond like Rob did today or even Frank Vogal. Thinking about it now, it's best she doesnt speak publically. Not because of anything but her making more a fool of herself. See #STAY decision.

I can’t remember if I called Woj out, but he is a Laker hater. It was rumored a couple places that Woj finally does have a Lakers source recently though, and that source is Rob, so I don’t even know what to believe anymore. Never really hear him say anything negative about Rob though, he mostly makes jokes about Kurt and Linda, and is stuck on repeat that no free agents are coming here this summer.

Rob had to answer the chain of command question and confirm the substantial and persuasive power wielded by the Rambii, which had only been hinted at in hushed off the record rumors. Except for of course @Mr. Rambis saying so here himself.

Phil hates everyone. That's why he was always so appealing. He took a dig at everyone and anyone when he felt in the mood. One of my favorite programs of all time was PHILosophy 101.
