Gee Magic, thanks for airing the dirty laundry when things were finally starting to look better. This interview should have happened before Vogel was announced. The draft lottery was the turn around, Vogel’s press conference today the step in the right direction. But no, now we’re back to more front office drama with Magic.
This franchise is a walking embarrassment. How you f*** up Lebron on your team is beyond me. That’s next level stupid. The perennial dumpster fire Cavs were more stable and cohesive. Jeanie is worse than Jim at least he tried and failed. This idiot just keeps doubling down on the same mistake over and over again.
Trashes Rob for backstabbing, even detailing how others in the league called to warn him about rob, as if to provide evidence of; “see it’s not just me who thinks he’s a scumbag” A few minutes later: “I still love the Lakers and I’m a fan so we need to support Rob.”
I’m still grateful Magic is fine because he’s an idiot too. - Randle wouldn’t fit with Lebron, no money, etc - He would have been perfect at the 5 (TT but way more skilled), he could have been had for cheap. - Lopez - He owned up that. - Zu - Just look at GSW series, Lebron/Zo made him - So what? No one can play with GS right now, but he sure could have helped and contributed in spot matchups. Y’all know he’s fueling the fire just enough to try and buy the team from Jeanie. A lot of money at stake and he wants a piece of that pie.
Better than where we were a week prior. And at least it was Vogel instead of the other names we heard out there.
I don't agree with all of Magic's choices as a Laker, but he just showed why he is "MR. LAKER". Whether you care for him or not he is unapolegetically straight forward even under the most adverse circumstances. What I gathered from the interview is that the issue is the Lakers as a family business vs. the pressure from corporate structures. Jeannie wants to maintain control of the team but is under extreme strain and tension from non-majority or outside business interests. This is likely why she has chosen to tighten her inner-circle. I admired Dr. Buss and support Jeannie Buss and her aspirations , however this is different time, and I don't know if she will be able to hold off the influence of outside $$. Magic provided the best guidance .... have a vision and focus on the basketball operations. This summer is likely make or break.
Why did Magic need to do this interview? What was the point? Unless he was going to shoulder all the blame, this interview can do nothing but damage the Lakers. Thanks Magic. I didn't think it was possible to make me dislike you after you led us to five rings, but you've done it.
I disagree. If anything, this confirmed that Magic is all about Magic. He tried to halfass this gig the entire time. Now he’s airing all the dirty laundry and humiliating the organization...to what end? No one looks good in this. Just another horribly bungled hire by Jeannie Dolan. So ridiculously inept.
That's some next level spinning right there. The dude is a self-serving idiot. Always has been. Also, an attention whore. Also always has been. I hate when my opinions of people are re-inforced. The negative ones. Dumass, this Magic.
To force Rob into answering questions today. It was entirely self serving, no doubt. But that's not his fault. Jeanie and Rob have had every chance in the world to do the same thing and they've been deathly silent, which has allowed speculation and narratives (whether true or tabloid fiction) to run wild. Hurting the value of the Laker brand. Come out, show confidence and at least fake that you know what you're doing. You don't have to take questions, but at least get in front of a podium and make a statement to help public perception.
Thanks Magic!! Probably not Frank Vogel. Haven't watched the rest of the hour yet. Was Kobe asked about the other backstabber .... Kidd?
it still quite comical/sad that a guy with his lvl of business acumen talking bout having "fun" and no longer having "fun" at this job is major reason why he left.....I'd just like to know which BPO in any sport has "fun" doing their job?
its 100% on jeanie why would you hire a guy who straight up told you he's not going to be 100% committed to the job? that right there basically sums up the state of this franchise
I understand where you’re coming from and Magic is certainly not a master of finesse but he is straightforward.... sort of a Ned Stark. Magic left before he was beheaded but passed on the message to focus on basketball operations and the product placed on the court. That will make us all happy. We are not broke, we have a top five player, two potential all stars that are 21, two solid role players/starters that are only 24, a top 5 draft pick, cash for a max player, and the Laker brand. We are in a great position, just need to execute.
