This feels like the day when Mitch and Jim signed Deng and Mozgov. These are the type or moves that keep you in the treadmill of mediocrity. They will cost people's jobs, legacies and reputations Embarrassing times for the Lakers.

Poor leadership by Jeanie and it's trickle effect is felt all the way down to the basketball courts

What Ramona is saying about Phil is coming straight from Jeanie. It lines up with what I was told before...
She thinks its a positive that Phil was consulting. She thinks that Phil is an important member of the Laker family and that fans and the press will respect his decision making. Turning inwards and consolidating power among a few. Kurt hopes to be in the circle, we'll see if he gets there.

    More to come as always.

    Best,
    Mr. Rambis

Jesus Christ man, like holy s*** what the f***?! THIS is the official spin from the mouthpiece? The Lakers are making me hate the team I have been watching since I was 8, they are ruining my love for them for no damn reason. F****** arguably the worst FO in Knicks history aside from Isiah Thomas picks our new coaching staff.

    Everyone loves Phil the coach
    Everyone hates Phil the non-coach

He needs to go back in his time capsule because his views and thoughts don’t fit today. This will end in disaster and it’s terrible Jeanie can’t see that. What a puppet she is

She’s seeking wise counsel from people she trusts, which is typically a very good thing.

But it would be nice if it was people with a proven track record hiring for the role she’s trying to fill. Neither Phil nor Kurt, regardless of success as a player, coach, etc have had success hiring other coaches or assembling teams.

Vogel and Kidd... There I say it... Underwhelmed.

If you didn't like Waltons rotations just wait for Vogel.... And his weird infatuation with old (scrub) vets over young talented players.

But it's not like I expected this group of clowns to do any better. The sooner we implode the better... I'm rooting very hard for this franchise to fail this year. I prefer an ending with terror than a terror without an ending.

so phil had a say in hiring vogel? lol as if this entire thing couldn't get any worse

and from what i've read the FO pretty much would have hired kidd if it wasn't for the tons of crap they received for even considering it. the lakers are the joke of the league. so this is what it feels like being a suns fan

Okay what if we had Bob the builder and he hired Vogel? Would it be hailed as a genius move by the press or around here? I mean, he's the best tactician available and everybody is still sad lol

that is true and a good reminder -- thank you -- given the bigger picture/context, however, this entire HC search/process was viewed as just the latest gaffe of an incompetent FO, another notch in their belt, so to say... the only way to stop the bleeding is to succeed next season (the definition of success depends on our roster)... no room for failure as we are literally the laughing-stock of the league/western world at the moment. anything else, would be uncivilized...

Vogel took the job for three years not bc he is desperate but bc coaches have such self-confidence he is sure he can turn it around and get an extension. Whether he can we will find out but that is the way a good coaches brain works. I for one, am very happy we ended up with Vogel considering what may have happened. It could have been Rambis.

Vogel no doubt thinks he's good enough to do this. And if we somehow sign Kawhi this summer and trade for AD, he will succeed in spite of what he does. He's probably rolling the dice on that. Worst case scenario: a 3 year deal that will pay more money than he can make doing anything else. Best case: We sign Kawhi, Durant leaves, and we are fighting for titles. If he even gets one ring in his first two years, he probably gets extended.

That's it, you don't take the job to fail, you bet on yourself to succeed, that's why TLue lost his dream job...

I'm not unhappy that we got Vogel. I just think it was a big missed opportunity to have both Lue and Vogel doing what they do best. But Vogel is a decent candidate and I hope he can do good work here.

The Jason Kidd thing is the thing that kind of makes you go, "Huh?" I'm glad they didn't pick him as head coach but the fact that they insisted he be on the coaching staff when they know his past could prove to be a bad turn. I don't love the fact that they are meddling in the coaching staff and forcing him into the mix.

On the other side, I do think there's a lot that Lonzo could learn from Kidd. He's the guy whose game Lonzo has always reminded me of most.

If one were to have a choice between an offensive or defensive head coach, an offensive coach should be hired every time. Defense is mostly about preparation, execution, and managing lineups which can be handled by an assistant coach in practice or during time outs. Offense is much more spontaneous which involves drawing up plays, X’s and O’s, etc. These in-game adjustments are what were lacking with Luke. Lue/Vogel to Vogel/Kidd is a huge downgrade. I can't stress how disappointed I am in the FO's incompetence.

This is why we can't have a great PBO now. Buford never possible, Presti :SadPau2: ..... but once Myers reads that after permission is granted to talk to Lakers (allegedly) ... he's not coming. Dumba**!
