Just putting it out there, I legit don’t mind Kidd as an assistant. I believe I had said the same thing when the reports came out about Lue having him as an assistant.

I’d hope that the rest of the staff is filled out well (NO RAMBIS), but Kidd as one of a handful of assistants is not the worst thing in the world.

All the propaganda for Kidd, that he’d be a good mentor to Lonzo and respected by Lebron/Kyrie, that would be terrible justification to make him the head coach. But as an assistant, those would actually be helpful traits.

It actually might be the worst thing in the world (of the Lakers regarding coaching).

I won't be able to tell you finalized trades, signings, etc. before you hear it elsewhere. These outlets pay directly or indirectly for that privilege. And that's not the business I am in.

What I was able to tell you was that Vogel was the primary choice and Kidd was also a strong secondary contender. That is pretty much what is being reported today, which confirms what I heard and told everyone here a few days ago.

The news I get is more a sense of what's going on in the heads of the FO guys, specifically on the business side. There is a reason it is being leaked now, but we can only speculate as to what that is until I know for sure, and I won't find that out for a little while. I have some other news about Kleiman I want to share so let me get to that now. The ESPN guys will cover this for a while so no need for me to chime in. Any further questions you have, just direct them my way and I'll do my best to get to it.

    Cheers,
    Mr. Rambis

I don't think he intends a scoop every time he posts, just sharing information. Has been pretty amazing so far to me as seems accurate and really does show us the bigger picture which is playing out here in LA especially with someone like Kawhi who will be pitched by Clippers and Lakers / New Balance / AEG. We have never had a look at this level from an industry insider.

1.) If you wanted a real mentor who can help Lonzo with shooting, free throws, finishing at the rim, running a team and not an off the court douche.....Get Steve Nash. He’d be amazing for Lonzo.

2.) Does Lonzo know he was mentored by Jason Kidd? I mean seriously, it’s amazing that it’s just now being reported when virtually everything is available to the media these days.

This is acceptable. Feels like he’s on the same tier as Lue and Monty. Way better than the other names thrown around, Woodson, Hollins, Bickerstaff, etc

As I said, I’m fine with Kidd on his staff. Hope we add several other qualified assistants as well.

Rambis on the staff would be a disaster.

I was thinking about this timing with the house going on the market a little before (less than 2 weeks I believe?) him interviewing for the head coach position. Wouldn't surprise me if Lue and him being on Lue's staff was a really done deal probably around that time until the Rambii and tone deaf Palinka effed up that deal too. Well it worked out well for him. Have to hear the years now. Will be shocked if it is more than 3 and mortified as to how stupid and tone deaf they really are.

Good. Thanks for all the info, Mr. Rambis.

I am not excited about Kidd though. Let’s see what happens. Can we hire Nash and Artest instead?

Hypothetically, if the Lakers had listed Vogel as one of their top candidates along with Lue and Monty and ended up deciding to hire him with Kidd as assistant a few weeks ago, I’d be pretty satisfied with the decision.

The process has been a mess, this decision itself isn’t. I’m not going to hold the poor way we handled the search against Vogel.

This is a brilliant and tough question. Is it true and confirmed LFR had their credential at the facility cancelled because of Rambis comments he made? If they've done that now he can say whatever he feels is true and that is relevant as an educated Lakers fan with a large following and credibility factor. Anyone here remember anything from Lonzo's camp or Lakers that Kidd was helping or teaching Lonzo anything? And yeah what a snakelike thing to do while you are brazenly AGAIN lobbying for another coach or executive's position while they're under contract. But a real reporter asks the tough questions. Will be interesting to keep track of what Ramona replies here and then everyone can do some sleuthing and fact checking.

This tweet will be interpreted negatively because of the Woj spin that focuses on resemblance to Phil’s approach. (Note he’s not reporting facts that Phil is actually in the decision making process, just vaguely reporting “influence” based on conceptual similarities in their approach)

But the content itself is a positive. For everyone so anti-Kidd, this shows he’s going to be one of a number of assistants whose voice will have equal say. He’s not going to have any more power than the other assistants.

Really curious to see who the other assistants are. Anyone have any ideas, maybe based on who Vogel had with him in Indiana and Orlando?
