I really hope the serious issue wasn't the fact that he likes to light it up once in a while. :D

I would not have such a pessimistic viewpoint, personally. There is still a lot of value to be had by wearing a Lakers uniform. This press certainly does not bode well for the Lakers Free Agency chances, but there is a lot of talks at a much higher level already underway about Kevin, Kyri, and Kawhi.

Part of what I am advising on right now is AEG's work with New Balance. They will use this to pitch Kawhi in the summer time. They have already talked with his uncle about what a potential deal might look like.

Some might call this tampering, but it happens every day all the time. Mr. Silver is definitely aware.

I am worried to derail the discussion about our coach. Let me create a separate topic where you can ask me and I will give (or find out) the answers.

Yes. But at some point, you have to have some level of confidence in the people building the team around you. If Lebron was on a 1+1 contract right now, he'd be gone.

Absolutely you are 100% correct. LeBron though, is not going anywhere unless a lot more happens. He is still confident he can recruit another star. But more importantly, his family has settled here, his sons are in school and he wants to gear them up for a potential NBA run when the 1-and-done rule is gone. This is best done in LA. His goal is also to create a $1B+ media empire after he retires to keep his brand growing and continue generating income. This is best done in LA.

Current thinking is he will leave during his opt out to go play with his son. But he needs a few years to set everything up. This is why you are starting to see shows like "The Shop" on premium channels like HBO.

Here's my insider info...Ballmer bought out the media so that the cLips have a better shot at free agency this summer.

What's been the jump-off to all the hype. Lakers f***ed up with George, Kawhi and AD by not closing those deals. When it was George and Kawhi, it was f*** the kids...ship they a**** out. When it was AD...it was what about the kids, Bron & the FO need to get shipped out. That was the narrative by nearly most of the media, right?

Meanwhile the clips were that other LA team who didn't go all in on those targets and instead chose the cap game...like we did. Sold their franchise player off after an extension...put that on a t-shirt! They then said f*** the kid and traded his a** off for cap space this summer. Traded away Boban and didn't really have a contingency to it, until we gifted them Zu. But of course that travesty wasn't really all what it was...how many DNPs did Zu have in the playoffs again? Yet theyre the feel good story in LA. They're the ones that haven't done any injustices/mistreatments to their players/agents. They're the ones not tampering with Kawhi and are also the one well "sourced" in getting him.

    Damn, Ballmers pockets be deep.

Ballmer is trying a lot, and he is pushing hard for free agents this summer. But he does not have the media advantage. He is using the fact that the Clippers are a clean slate for a player to assume leadership and get a lot of credit. This is very appealing to star players.

AEG is firmly in the Lakers pocket. The Clippers resemble a neglected stepchild to them. They do not want to be associated with the Clippers. They will not let Time Warner give them a lucrative deal, in any sense.

With Paul George, that was a complicated story. A lot happened behind the scenes there with Mintz, Pelinka, and Pritchard. Silver was involved too. It was very close to a done deal, but Pelinka is a novice when it comes to tampering properly, and unfortunately had a moron in Brian Shaw do his bidding, who got caught.

I’m not gonna go full tinfoil, but I think the Clippers DO have a media advantage.

Not a coincidence that the media narrative started to swing in the Clippers favor, before they actually established that they were the better team this season, around the time that they hired a prominent media journalist to some made up role in their front office.

That media and the media that I'm referring to are different. Ballmer can buy the Athletic and these other outlets if he wants. But he will never control the big media, which is run by AEG. Things like the Time Warner deal, Staples, partnerships with New Balance, Nike, etc.

When it comes to the reporting media, the Lakers have Ramona as their primary person, who controls the LA Times too. WIndhorst has followed LeBron and snuck in there somewhere but doesn't have a direct line into the Lakers Front Office. The LeBron camp does not like him much either, to be honest.

Wait...why does ESPN reporter Ramona control the LA Times, or am I misreading that?

Ramona is the big dog of Lakers reporters. She doesn't directly control the folks at the LA times, but the beat writers there follow her lead, as it comes straight from Jeanie.

Of course there are guys like Plaschke who make a living off negative spin, but in order to get the good scoop, they have to be in line with Ramona, who is Jeanie's mouthpiece.

Literally everything Mr. Rambis says corroborates with my sources as well (lots of new information, but some of what he's saying is not new and has been confirmed by my source at The Athletic). I like you, @Mr. Rambis !

Thank you! I'm glad what I'm saying is along the same lines with what you've been hearing! Hope it eases everyone a touch. Also makes me feel better I'm hearing somewhat true info! :)

Look forward to hearing what your sources have to say (as you are able to tell us, of course)! This current climate is a little unsettling so I'm hoping we get some good news soon!

I wouldn’t “mind” him, but that shouldn’t be the bar for the Lakers, settling for your 4th choice or worse who was just about to be an assistant. Terms like “decent” shouldn’t be what we are shooting for. He would have made a great assistant imo, but man his last stop was rough and I don’t remember it ending well for him in Indy either. Lue checked multiple boxes, good coach and good with LeBron. Vogel is not a long term solution, that’s the issue, we can’t seem to find that here. I’d take him over Woodson, Hollins, and Kidd though, that list is horrific. What’s sad is we don’t even hear about us looking at a guy like Messina, there is zero out of the box thinking, it’s all retreads. Hell, you don’t even hear us going after the Van Gundys. What I do mind is demanding things like Kidd and Rambis being on the coaching staff though, f*** both of those guys and their weasel power plays.

The issue for me is not even Lue or Vogel, neither of them are good or bad. It's just how bad we bungled this, it shows an utter lack of competence in the FO.
