Also... Silver lining: LeBron got bamboozled (or was dumb enough to do it to himself) and will now get his legacy tarnished.

    Yes!

It's a valid point though because it's basically the same guys and in fact Vogel had both Serge Ibaka and Vucevic most of '16-'17 and they went from a bottom tanking team to a 42-40 playoff team by changing out the coach last season. No major roster changes. Not a good look for Vogel.

I was literally about to get behind Lue because rumor was that he wanted Vogel and Thibodeau on his staff and the great organization that is the Lakers said no because they want freaking Rambis on the staff. SELL THE TEAM!! We don’t care about winning anymore. The two most storied franchises Lakers and Knicks are owned by the worst visionaries.

People saying Lue or Monty are trash now... it's not like great coaches are lining up for the Lakers job though.
Btw, who are these better coaches out there? Realistic options please.

The sense I'm getting is that people are suspicious they are working together to fill the power vacuum. Lots of politics at play, which Linda is slick at.

So some believe the media is out to get us, so how we explain our very own "Laker Based" social media outlets reporting same thing? I guess they enjoy smearing the very team they report on?

that is from a "Laker Media" based acct, let guess they want to make the team they report on look bad too for some unknown reasons?

I like Vogel, he's #1 on my current list.

BUT our actions in the past 24 hours look poor in front of the coaching candidates we've considered. I guess who cares at this point. But wanting Kidd for assistant coaching gig (without discussing that role with him, depending on what source you believe) while passing over him as a HC (for now, until we make that mistake) probably won't sit well.

Going back to the drawing board and interviewing new candidates while Howard is left looking around the room like John Travolta in Pulp Fiction.

Then to stumble upon Vogel, Lue's guy, like "oh yeah... there's this guy. Forgot about him."

It just looks very sloppy, unorganized, chaotic, and unprofessional. But that's our current M.O.

What I was told is this is likely a power play by the Rambis family.

-Linda asked (more like begged) Jeanie last year to give Rambis a job as a senior basketball advisor (basically did nothing). Jeanie relented. Rambis soon snuck into coaching affairs.

-After Magic resigned Jeanie was, and is, very lost. She turned to Linda for help. Linda wants Kurt in a position of power, likely as PBO. She suggested because nobody on the Lakers had any coaching knowledge, they would have a hard time interviewing a coach. She said Kurt would help as some more Xs and Os questions, so they took him along.

-Most of the Lakers wanted to go ahead with Williams due to optics about LeBron taking control. Kurt and Linda smartly raised enough doubt about his coaching record to delay the decision until Williams signed with Phoenix.

-Kurt and Linda then started to push the optics angle more. Kurt wanted Lionel Hollins as the coach, who is a friend, and if he gets his guy in, Kurt will have an easy angle into taking more control in the Lakers FO. They drove the Lakers to purposely low ball Lue to send him off. Now Rambis will push for Hollins. It is unclear if Jeanie will relent, but the AEG guys tell me it is looking more and more like the Rambis family wants to assume the power void in the Lakers FO and take charge of all basketball decisions.

Thanks for that! I'll take it with a grain of salt, but a very interesting and depressing read at the same time, if true.

I agree Vogel is #1 on my list too. If I'm any of these coaching candates the first 2 questions out of my mouth are 1) Can I hire my own, hand picked assistants or are you going to force certain coaches to be on my staff and 2) What is the contract length

If question 1 is the wrong answer why even go any further with this Lakers team or interview process. I'd actually love it if all the coaches turn down the Lakers if they require Linda and Kurt are picking the assistant coaches or Kurt has to be one of them.

Is there a process in the Buss trust to relieve Jeanie of her power? I seem to remember something about the other kids being able to vote her out with a majority but don’t know if that’s true.

According to the podcasts I listen to Jeanie also has to vote herself out, she’d basically have to step down, she’s going nowhere. Her sister has supposedly said she will side with Jeanie in every vote as long as Jeanie wants to be in this position. So at this moment there is no way to have her removed, there aren’t enough votes to get it done the way it’s set up.
