I think this still gets done - but man, this is frustrating. If you believe the reports, and he's reached out to Thibs, and has already has Vogel; what's the issue with how he constructs "his" staff; and why the hell would Jeanie & Company who don't have anywhere near the B-Ball IQ as Lue even have the audacity to recommend any assistant coaches?

Lue is proven, won a championship, and has been mentored by Doc Rivers; he's more than qualified to put a quality staff together. Goodness.

Hahaha. You guys are making Ty Lue look like John Wooden. This is great news. Lakers need a Messina or Budenholzer clone. Not some guy who had a tummy ache when the pressure got too heavy.

I don't want Kidd anywhere near our coaching staff. He did a horrible job in Milwaukee as a head coach, and I can already imagine a guy like Kidd trying to get the head coach position at some point during the season, which I really wouldn't like at all. I'm still not incredibly sold on Lue, but I am willing to give him a chance as a choice that's not among my favorites, but not also among the ones I would have nightmares with.

Also, if for some reason we're trying to force Jason Kidd as an assistant instead of Vogel, then I'll just want to hit my head against a wall real hard.

If Vogel somehow comes as an assistant to Lue, now that'd actually be great news for me. I like Vogel quite a lot (actually more than Lue).

There isn't a lot of options available, OX. And while I know you don't like the current FO, the Lue hire is the best available choice right now. IMO. He isn't Byron Scott or Luke Walton. And for better or worse, he's LeBron-Approved...

He is not the best option. The media is telling you that. Lakers need to get away from the buddy system and start focusing on a coach who can develop and coach players.

The Lakers need to stop with the star catering business and start taking care of the guys they have scouted and drafted and are developing.

Until then, it's the same methods and those methods don't work anymore.

Wow, what an absolute joke. Every time I think this FO can’t disappoint me more or have me shaking my head any harder they pull something like this. Jason Kidd? He developed young talent? He’s the only coach to hold back Giannis. I’m not even super high on Lue, but telling a coach who went to multiple NBA Finals and won one who to pick as assistants is arrogant nonsense. The only reason this isn’t more concerning is there are no other coaching jobs available for Lue to go to. I think only Cleveland has an opening and ha, yeah, like he’d go back to that without LeBron.

Ok, let's stop talking generalities; give me a specific name, please.

Who is OX hiring, and why?

This is what I kept arguing with those individuals who said keep Luke and force him to get assistants that Mgmt wants, NO respectable HC will do that, they want who they want!
