So true! Plus, when Magic stepped down the media and it's "sources" sure had alot to say about how coveted that position is and how the Lakers HAD to fill the position by exiting their current Lakersphere. Either way, I'll see how the Mamba's guy reacts to all the adversity...I'm sure he picked up a few things from the man he repped for so many years. So Bonga picked over Svi is your best example of Magic ignoring his scouts to choose a player in his image??? That's almost as huge a stretch as convincing folks that an orange is a pumpkin. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nba.com/amp/lakers/news/170616-scouting-draft-jesse-buss
Rob will have a story, though. Credit to Rob, though; I think he'll actually show up to do his job; unlike Magic our absentee former President who was a constant no show.
Constant no show??? Nice story. Haha So is the absentee thing another hot take from the "Rob doing Nance dirty" sauce or is that a whole other jalepeno? (Get it...hollow-pen-yo #barz) Maybe there's something to it tho...I mean how can you be at work conducting office hours when you're busy making house calls? Anyways I got another nice story by famed & credible story-teller, Lee Jenkins: Btw, now I know where Lavar gets his recklessness from...trying to speak s*** into existence. #TheEnd
I don’t think many people were claiming that the hints we’d keep Rob was fake news designed to make the Lakers look bad. It was the other way around. People were claiming that the fake news was all the noise trashing Rob and discouraging us from keeping him after Magic quit. The sudden reports saying that nobody around the league would work with Rob even though he’s already executed several trades with multiple teams. That was the fake news.
Pelinka taking over basketball operations while having pretty much no basketball competence / acumen is pretty much what was expected. If you needed any (more) evidence that this franchise has become a joke after Doc passed away, this move epitomizes it.
i feel like other organizations have done similar things with some success, so i don't take it alone as a sign of the lakerpocalypse. now, linda rambis sitting in on head coach interviews...
.... what does "pretty much no basketball competence / acumen" mean? He hasn't held a GM position before? Been around the game at highest levels since HS. You could say the same thing about Bob Myers when he started as assistant GM in 2011 for GS and was promoted to GM in a year. Both had similar backgrounds and both have links to Arn Tellem in their formative agent years. Both played at major college programs, Rob with Fab Five team and Myers with UCLA team that won a title. One goes "Robert" by "Bob" and the other by "Rob". WIKI "Robert MichaelMyers (born March 31, 1975)[1] is the president of basketball operations for the Golden State Warriors in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a former sports agent with Wasserman Media Group after interning with agent Arn Tellem. Myers played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins from 1993 to 1997. He was a member of their 1995 NCAA championship team. He served as a radio commentator for UCLA basketball for two seasons until 2002.[2]" This Rob Pelinka doesn't know anything and is hated by everyone narrative seems to me waay over the top.
Yes he had a year. Big deal. Pelinka got out from under Mozdeng albatross contracts just about as efficiently with good deals as possible in his first year and a half. To be set up the way we are now. Magic calling the direction for what he wanted done and Rob did it.
efficient? what GM can't unload a bad deal with a former #2 pick? Bk got out of Moz with a 2nd rd pick and then buying out Howard, come on bro, Cha dumped off Moz for another poor contract and got 2 2nds in return lol
