Best. Outfit. Ever. Especially when walking away from the press (not this shot) in a snit later after a question he didn't like.

It's interesting that they want the specifics of this contingent to be public.

This is our current bball heirarchy:

    • Rob Pelinka — general manager
    • Jesse Buss — assistant general manager/director of scouting
    • Joey Buss — vice president of research and development
    • Ryan West — director of player personnel
    • Jordan Wilkes — director of player development
    • Kurt Rambis — senior basketball advisor
It's interesting that Oram mentions that Jesse (other than the draft) has had no major say in bball decisions.

I don't know why most are hung up on Linda so much, but some of y'all wanted Jesse...maybe he becomes our new GM.

Btw a notable absence is West jr.

Monty isn't very creative offensively though....surprisingly LFR rated Lue ahead of Monty in that department...

But Monty does have the respect of leBron and of course he coached AD to the playoffs and then was dismissed for a weaker coach...which AD didn't like.

Monty also has gained experience in the front offices of both San Antonio and OKC over the last few years so I do like that aspect of his experience...maybe Lakers are going to make him President of BPO and coach? I don't think that's the best idea given I think Front Office and Coaching should be separate...but given the incompetence we've seen in our front office with Rob and Linda/Kurt Rambis...I would take Monty over any of those guys to run our front office AND coach...

Yeah and WHY is Linda going and Not Ryan West?

This is why Lakers haven't learned...you're trying to pitch a coach and you bring Linda instead of Ryan West?

I have no problem with Joey and Jesse getting more power, IF Jeanie wants this to be “a Buss run organization”, then those are the Buss’ that have shown to be very competent in their jobs. They’ve scouted and helped us draft well, and our G-League team has been way more well run than our actual team, and had found some really solid contributors like Nwaba, Caruso, Williams, etc. I have to laugh at Linda and Kurt freaking Rambis going to interview Monty though, that seems like a bit of a crowd, dude is gonna feel ambushed.

I’m asking this honestly and not in jest....

Who is Linda Rambis (In terms of FO competence/role) and why all of a sudden is her name seemingly in every decision?

Like I need to know what she’s accomplished to be able to come to meetings and make decisions. Kurt is there and he’s an idiot but he’s at least been an idiot in basketball non-player roles so you can see why he’s involved.

Her involvement is incredibly stupid and I’m trying to understand what she has done because it feels like we have been cut out of a huge piece of information involving her.

This made me laugh so hard when I saw it a little while ago. Jeanie (or any Buss when it comes to Kurt) just doesn’t learn. Sure Rambis has failed everywhere he’s been, but yeah, let’s keep trying him out again, that’s not the definition of insanity or anything.

This is all I could find

    https://www.linkedin.com/in/linda-rambis-1575324

Literally nobody outside the Lakers org seems to know what she does. I’d assume she helps Jeanie on the business side. Maybe one of her special projects was the Dwight Howard “STAY” billboards.

Agree for the most part; with respect to Xs and Os, he has her apart of two different regimes (Philly, SAS) where I'm hoping that playbook has grown....;)

Linda hasn't been given any special title in bball ops, so I'm assuming it's for marketing purposes (see Sac's huge Luke banner haha) and being Jeanie's right hand.

Here's why I don't understand the uproar...Linda is part of Jeanie's "posse" and in terms of marketing, being a "mom & pop ran establishment" and out the playoffs for 6 years, we still are worth just south of 4 billion and we led the NBA in team merchandise. Just like Bron's guys being bosses in their industry, why can't Jeanie's girls do the same?

I doubt she has bball ops input, but if she's coming along, so what?

I think fab4 has a point that Monty has exec experience in his CV and we could be coming to him with the opportunity to to be Team Prez/Head Coach. It hasn't worked out so well for Riles, Stan Van Gundy, Doc Rivers, etc but that possiblity is there...which kinda explains the contingent heading out there (ie Monty getting a 2way interview in seeing if he can collab with Rob, the Buss kids and Rambis).

We're going to lose Ryan West. Just "seems" like he's not nearly as integral and given more responsibility and title than he has and should have been to date. Just a never ending dread here of mine. We lost Jerry West stupidly and if some team that Ryan is OK with asks permission to speak to him about their GM position .... it doesn't again "seem" like they value him enough to preclude that from happening. Hope I'm wrong on that down the road.

What does the director of player personnel do, in addition to supposedly also being involved with scouting? Right? At least make the guy a VP with a raise before he gets snaked by another team.

Bro come on....are you really trying to justify why Linda is part of the posse?

And us being #1 in merchandise has ZERO to do with anything Linda has done...or for that matter...anything JEANIE has done.

We are #1 because we have a BRAND....no matter how we're doing...we're always going to be up there. Plus, we have that LeBron guy as well...that helps.

I think at the end of the day...Jeanie can rest easy at night knowing that Lakers are always going to be a "draw"...until they're not. Or until the Clippers win a championship. Or a few. And guess what? They're a lot closer to that than we are right now...and their best player is LOU effing Williams. Imagine if they actually get somoene this summer?

Lakers aren't always going to be great....and if a team like the Clippers ran by a billionaire owner that doens't rely on the Clipppers as his primary source of income suddenly start winning and getting star players....Lakers will actually take a backseat to the Clippers. We need to stop assuming that is NOT a possibility.....as it very clearly is.
