if anyone wants to see what a historic franchise can look like when the reigns are handed to the owners kids, look at the Niners.

I mean you can look at the Raiders too. I don’t know the big picture history on this sort of thing in sports ownership, but it wouldn’t surprise me if this is a trend. The father/mother typically had to earn their success, their kids did not, so they don’t run it with the same drive to be the best. If Jeanie truly wanted to be the best above all else, then she’d hire the best people, instead of only her friends and family and people somehow tied to her friends and family. Nepotism.

probably true too since Raiders made last SB when Al was still alive....I choose niners cause I'm a fan and remember reading all the nasty stuff that happened when the York kids took over.

Everyone said we need a grinder for that position instead of what Magic Johnson gave us.

I think that is the very definition of Kurt Rambis. He wasn’t an outstanding coach, but I have a feeling he actually could do an incredible job in this position. What if Pelinka is your Cap Guru, and Kurt Rambis evaluates some talent and is your people person? It just might work.

But it’s also possible that Jeanie drove Jim to excessive drinking and gambling too.

Kurt Rambis is incredibly unqualified to be an executive. He was probably the worst coach I have ever seen (besides Byron) in my life. There are many more qualified candidates/talent out there; the fact that she's settling for Rob and Rambis (if the reports are true) is completely irresponsible and outright egregious.

She's the face of the Los Angeles Lakers; she has all the resources to put the best Front Office in the league together; we can't keep excusing her incompetence anymore. The excuses have to stop, and she has to be held accountable.

I'm hoping the Lakers prove me wrong this summer, though...I really do.

I don’t understand the mentality to take a risk on somebody when the franchise clearly needs a very sure thing from someone highly qualified. It just doesn’t really make any sense. Like Luke’s rotations.

I hear ya, my guy. The problem is that "highly qualified" person isn't in our Front Office.

We’re going to whiff on a coach, the front office, and then likely free agency

As I said in another thread, there’s just no reason to go with another unproven person in this role. Every level of our franchise is someone who is figuring it out and finding their way.

    Amateur hour has to stop.

Bring in proven people to guide the ship. They aren’t hard to find and plenty are interested.

This is a needless gamble on two unproven people. It’s literally hiring your friends and a guy one of your friends knows instead of actually doing a real search for qualified people.

Sure, we could trip over success at some point but why not just go get a sure thing?

Maybe a lot of people look at the Lakers like your guy LeBron and his camp are running the show regardless of who is officially in charge. If so it wouldn’t be good according to this

    According to Zach Lowe

Also, long hours at work sound great but it doesn’t matter if you a) don’t know what you are doing and b) can’t get results.

Honestly, for all his faults (and there were many) would you rather have had Magic swooping in a couple times a week to pitch free agents or Rob / Rambis calling them every day? I know which I’d pick.

Again, I can’t 100% say they won’t work out. But this is literally the same thing we’ve done every season.

We watch the team make a series of questionable moves. Criticize them. Then at some point, most of us accept the reality of what’s happened and try like hell to convince ourselves that this time it’s all going to somehow work out.

It’s time for Jeannie to stop putting us through this. Build an organization we can believe in with a solid plan for the future.

I think it’s going to be Rob / Rambis. And honestly, if we do pick them and whiff in free agency, I’ll probably end up focusing on college hoops next season.

Is this the same person that tweeted he’s sure Kawhi is coming to the Lakers because he went to Kawhi’s family bbq last weekend?
