The ESPN710 crew is saying that people in the Lakers organization love Rob Pelinka, but reluctantly concede that the rest of the league hates him.
You can love someone all you want, but if they’re s*** at their job and hated by the league they have to do business it doesn’t matter. The Lakers are a family business, but they don’t need to be run literally as if everyone hired is family. Kurt Rambis I’m sure is family to Jeanie, but he’s s*** as a head coach, that’s like having kept him on because he’s loved, good god. We need Dr Buss so much right now, he knew the balance between family and business.
I love you guys. But if we're keeping Rob, I doubt I will be on as much. At some point I have to realize this isn't the Laker team I fell in love with. It's not about wins and losses. It's about the internal dysfunction. I used the "married to an alcoholic" analogy earlier. The Lakers aren't the same person and they are sabotaging their relationship with their fans.
Just when you thought the Lakers might not be the laughing stock of the NBA, you get a reality check.
Steve Mason is predictably against keeping Pelinka aboard. Ireland is pushing the narrative that he ascends and grabs more power.
What a joke. When other teans won’t even pick up his phone call, what do you do? You give him even more power? The only saving grace here would be promoting Ryan and have Jerry in to consult. ESPN 710am compared him to Little Finger from Game of Thrones and thats such a fitting comparison.
Hmm. I think we can all deduce what Laker Film Room is saying here. Rob actually enjoys eating at Applebees.
And that’s not even the most interesting thing he’s tweeted the last day. Imagine Pelinka and Luke bringing in Kurt Rambis as a yes man PBO, good god. Entirely possible according to that guy.
