So is Rob going to use some soliloquy from some Chinese proverb to explain the current state of the Lakers? That will be pure theater if you ask me.

goddamn. this season was bad but what a way to end it. this franchise is in shambles right now

magic the player is the greatest laker of all time in my opinion. but since he took over as GM he has done irreversible damage to this team that has set them back even further than the cp3 veto did. giving up on russell, letting lopez and randle walk, completely ignoring the fact that the team had zero shooters and instead signing guys like rondo, mcgee, and stephenson, thinking lebron was the solution to every problem, and to top it all off: the zubac trade. you'll have to convince me that magic was not high on drugs when he made that trade

so now what? i say go after jerry west hard. jeannie needs to admit she was wrong in passing him up the first time and do all she can to lure him back to the lakers. promote ryan west to GM and put the logo in some senior advisor role with complete control. i'm assuming pelinka will follow magic out the door soon. my only question now is what happens with luke? we all know he still has jeannie's vote of confidence but it would be a huge mistake keeping him around. hopefully the GM void is filled soon so the necessary changes can be made

Magic crapped all over D-Wade and Dirk's final games. Pretty sad. I didnt even know Dirk retired officially until 2 hours ago.

I just found out. This is insane, and somehow I’m ok with it.

Too many terrible moves to think the FO could turn things around without a major shakeup. Sounds like Rob is our too if not being sued for shady dealings.

Burn it all down with fire and hope a new FO can rise like a phoenix from the ashes

No doubt we can get a big fish to take over.

The question is where is Jeannie’s head at? She’s the common denominator in all the BS that has been going on with the franchise.

She needs to lead. Finish the job by getting rid of Rob and Luke. Make sound hires after true searches.

I’ve followed him for awhile. His stories have always had a level of truth to them even though some pieces may be missing.

There’s a ton of smoke here though. George deal doesn’t happen. Many believed AD was a done deal then it fell through. Massive fines and constant talk of tampering. GMs refusing to do business with us and encouraging other teams to do the same. And finally, Magic just basically saying “I’m rich and I don’t need this headache. I’m out”

Something was definitely up in my mind.

Magic on news coming out post-resignation:
"I'm not saying don't trust anybody...I'm just saying can't nobody be trusted." lolz.

Honestly speaking that's how I'm approaching things going forward. There's gonna be hella reaching, narratives, etc. taking place so what the fudge are we supposed to believe?

All I know is we got in an a car accident&IMO, the car is repairable with no frame damage.

Think everyone just needs to stay patient and wait until free agency is over.

Personally, I'm looking forward to having a top-11 pick(those are our odds, hopefully we get lucky AF)&the goal should be using that pick w/some players for AD, who's still represented by LeBron's boy&that's good enough to reel a 3rd star like Irving/Leonard/Butler/Walker/Klay/Durant(dare I say).

Like it or not W/O excessive injuries this definitely was a playoff team, never mind the AD fiasco that did screw up team chemistry. Before yesterday it didn't feel THAT long ago we were within the 8th spot by 1.5-2 games for a hot minute.

Sorry for the long post&hello to everyone that remembers me. We've waited this long for the playoffs, so I'm going to continue to stay positive . Something's gotta' give.

This is why hiring Magic immediately after firing Jim was not smart, same as asking Kobe who to pick as GM and immediately hiring Pelinka. It has been reported that a lot of GMs and people qualified for the PBO position were angry they didn’t even get a chance to interview, that the Lakers job is still looked at as a plum one. On the Magic topic, I think this is a great listen, a lot of deep digging on Magic, Anthony and Pete get very real

He wast the right guy for the job long term, but he used his passion to help make some culture changes, personnel changes, and basically only BI is left from when he arrived.

We were going to need someone different to get to the next level, but I’ll just choose to be thankful things are going in a different direction.

How it went down is confirmation that he wasn’t the right guy. Tough decisions have to be made, and not everyone will like you. At his core, Magic wants and needs to be liked.

Real executives don’t talk about things not being “fun”. Better to stick to the things you are great at.

But I’m curious about a 3 hour meeting with Rob about the state of the franchise along with threats to resign or die. That should get interesting.

Props to Jeanie for not allowing Magic to make yet another knee jerk reaction move in firing Luke. It also lets Klutch and Lebron know that their reign of playing GM is over. Boss move.

I imagine Magic’s last meeting with Jeanie went like this:

Supposedly though, she gave Magic permission to fire Luke.

Something isn't adding up. Maybe that's the cover up, Magic left on his own terms&there was a difference of opinion on the direction of the franchise.
Not because of Luke in particular.
    Who knows right now.

Magic had the go ahead to fire Luke by most accounts.

LeBron and Klutch could easily end up in stronger position and still weird a ton of power.

Nothing here shows that Jeannie isn’t still gonna make questionable moves like she has in the past. Reports of her linking with Rob during all of this don’t encourage me although I suppose she has to at this point while trying to stabilize the situation.

We’re not even close to being out of the woods. More dominos will drop and this will probably get worse before hopefully getting better.

Welp, all I've got to say is what's done is obviously done.

Start the search by Monday and get the ball rolling again.

What frustrates me even more about this, is Magic ran the smear campaign against Mitch/Jim/MDA saying he could do so much better and boasted about how great he could do...

And then quits abruptly because he’s a coward with skeletons in the closet ready to be exposed.

I fear we are just going to keep things in the family again.

I’m also not sure Jeannie realizes how bad Rob is.
