He and a Cuban are pretty tight too, and now he has Porzingis and Doncic, and maybe a returning Dirk. I can’t see why he’d want to come here to deal with Diva

I love the names being mentioned; none of them are realistic, though.

As for Lue? I can deal with him.

the only reason i'd be fine with lue is because he's familiar with lebron and knows how to win with him

lebron isn't going anywhere so might as well bring in a guy who knows how to use him

Here’s my hesitation with Lue. He got away with winning with Lebron in the watered down Eastern conference, and his style of offense was let Lebron drive, and kick to standing jumpshooters. We’d have to overhaul our entire roster to make Lue/Lebron work. Plus, outside of Kyrie, who was gonna be a star regardless, he’s shown no history of developing young talent.

Well, we ARE going to overhaul the roster anyway.

I’d be okay with Lue just because he’s coached Lebron before. And because hes not Kidd or Mark Jackson. The FO can run with the “former Laker” narrative as well.

Lakers get Tyronn Lue, and I'm not watching the games like I'm not watching them now, next year.

Lue would fold like a wet paper plate in LA. Hell no. Keep that anxiety filled stress case away from the Lakers. Lakers need to get a coach that AD would love. The hell with Lebron.

Honest question OX. Proper vetting and interviews and a real search for a great qualified (hopefully) NBA coach ..... all aside ..... what's your opinion of the answer here to how we should proceed if Luke is fired, knowing the reality of the situation with LeBron James's history of relationships with his coaches and alleged (likely) desire to do what he wants regardless of coaches?

Or anyone else besides OX for that matter? LBJ's history and baggage with coaches is the largest elephant imaginable in the room.

Edit .... sorry OX I didn't read far enough and you already answered to find someone that Anthony Davis would want instead. Yeah fine but doesn't seem realistic in our situation at the current time.

.... although OX, I see you working here.

Both LeBron and AD are Klutch clients and LeBron of course agrees with the plan and wants AD here and AD reportedly and makes business sense for him to be here for the Klutch marketing. But what if they (not sure who that would mean) ... for the good of the Lakers franchise .... leveraged LeBron with saying it NEEDS to be a coach that AD wants or he's not coming? Not just a figure head.

Why would you think you're the only one when everyone here pretty much would be underwhelmed and flat disappointed with some threatening to stop watching because of that? After all the other crap going on. Short answer no you're not. It would be a figurehead coach for LeBron to run the offense and really rough in L.A. on Lue's health.

Oh he sucks, its just that he knows how to suck with Lebron to a championship and we currently have Lebron.

Luke'm time is over, this seems to be clear. He doesn't even look like he cares at this point. Mostly stone faced in interviews.

He has to take some blame even though the FO has offered atrocious solutions to support his case.

Lue just doesn't seem like a future move. LBJ is good for a couple years maybe, then what? Lue's gonna do better than Luke without LBJ ? Cleveland waited a whole 6 games before giving him walking papers this season without LBJ.

I do think Lue can coach a team of vets led by a few (or more) big time stars. Who else can do that? Oh yeah, Luke with GSW, where he went 39-4 with a 24-0 start. Yeah they ran some triangle which Luke knows intimately but replacing him with Lue seems like a lateral move at best. Why was Cleveland so down on him without LBJ? Cut after a 0-6 start with a crap team? No one would do that (says hi to Mike Brown).

I highly doubt Luke and his terrible rotations wins a title with that Cleveland team.

carlisle would be a great excuse to move on from rondo, who's been a net negative, imo. but no way a good established coach comes here to deal with lebron and the la media circus, imo. especially carlisle, who has suffered through some lean years and has a light at the end of the tunnel with luka and zinger.

i never saw anything that suggested he was innovative or even a great motivator. i saw lebron strap a team on his back and a coach that got out of his way. we don't have THAT lebron.

Lue's only attribute is that Lebron likes him. But if we can swing an AD trade and sign Kawhi, we need to pick a coach that Kawhi and AD like, not Lebron. Kawhi and AD would be our future for the next 5-6 years. Lebron would be a major piece for only 2 more years at most. Lebron doesn't need a coach at this point. But Kawhi and AD still do.

i'm still on team monty williams. feel like he's done a good job with some pretty lame opportunities, and he has a good pedigree and rapport with players.

I really like him and Messina.

Unfortunately, I don't know if Williams is a big enough name for our front office. Hiring him would definitely send me the signal that its no longer business as usual.

I gotta think the Spurs will try their best to keep Messina.
