I definitely prefer Lue to J. Kidd. That said, let's see what happens. It's too early to speculate.

How about this. We hire Mark Jackson as head coach and Jason Kidd as assistant coach to help Lonzo. And we actually hire a f***ing shooting coach, I wonder if Steve Nash is available

Everyone stop with the Mark Jackson stuff. He is a terrible person. Jason Kidd might be just as bad. And Mark Jackson refused to hire any assistants that could threaten his job, zero chance he'd let a snake like Kidd anywhere near him.

I would definitely expect them to consider Lue. Just not Kidd, it makes no sense. M. Jackson is horrible. Pass.

    I don't see Jackson either.

I think Lue is a legit candidate. Naturally, I'm worried about his health, but with the right staff we know he can work with Lebron and get the most out of a team.

I'm hoping Monty Williams and Messina get consideration.

I'm not tied to a particular name and this is just one piece of the puzzle. Any coaching moves need to go along with a changed approach to building the team and making sure we have the best analytic, medical, training, etc minds on our various staffs.

Messina would be awesome, of course, but the Spurs will try very hard to keep him, right? Williams is a good coach too, sure.

Yeah. I gotta imagine the Spurs want him to potentially replace Pop when he steps down.

Yeah. Messina would be my first choice to be honest, but there's really no need to even mention him as I think San Antonio will make up a title for him (Grandmaster Assistant Head Coach) and pay him head coach type money to prevent him from leaving.

Plus Spurs would never, ever agree to even let us interview him. Petty f***ers, just like NO and Indiana.

Just wondering, what is the word on Jackson and why do you consider him a terrible person? I know things didn't end so well up there in GS. Were there rumors that he was homophobic or something? I don't know anything about Jackson. Kidd is of course a spousal abuser so there's no way I'm down with that. Plus he's not particularly successful at coaching. Jackson couldn't seem to get over the hump as a coach so I'm not so excited about that possibility either. At least Lue has won a championship coaching Lebron. Again, I'm open to a lot of possibilities as I don't think Luke is the right guy.

Looks like Ty Lue called out LBJ during that fateful Game 7 of the 2016 Playoffs:

Don’t like Lue. Hope if a change is made it’s not him.

Well, it worked out in the end. Lue did light a fire under him to get him to play at another level. Lebron showed up on defense and had that iconic block on Igoudala.

The fact that Lue admitted that he lied to Lebron and thought he wasn't playing that bad in the biggest game of their careers shows he's not afraid. I think his experiences playing with Kobe and Jordan during his career gave him insight into the level that a superstar is supposed to play at.

Weird fact about Lue, Jayson Tatum is his cousin!

Allow me to throw my tin cents in on this as well. Schwartz/Excel reps Kidd...but also TyChandler and BI. We could be doing them a solid with collegiate negotiations by having our name involved as leverage.

    Speaking of Kidd...

The guy did coach Kidd to a title. I'm not necessarily saying Kidd as Carlisle's assistant...but maybe I am. Also DeAndre chose Carlisle/Mavs in free agency last summer and could be an option this summer if the coaching change does indeed happen (Carlisle gave DJ the 4th most minutes on the team this season).

I like Carlisle but didn’t he sign an extension?

Yep, which is why Lue appears to be the leading candidate.

Still, Cuban has done some unconventional s***, so you never know. But, I do like the idea of going for a namer with championship pedigree and knows how to handle star players.

All that being said, how would Rondo feel about a potential reunion? Haha
