I've heard nothing but great things from it as well. I'll have to check it out real soon. I love those deep emotional movies/documentaries if they are done right
Mother of god! That trailer score/remix of that song is straight FIRE! Jordan Peele might have another masterpiece on his hands. I hate horror films but will have to see this when it comes out in theaters. I'm not making the same mistake of not seeing Get Out in theaters.
Peele is reaching “watch anything he makes” status for me. Us looks absolutely terrifying and I hate horror movies cause I’m a big baby.
I watched Green Book last night. It's a decent movie, but I couldn't get over the fact that it felt like an early 90s movie, in terms of the narrative structure, style and the tepid approach to the racial issues presented. It's fine, but it didn't reflect how film has evolved over the last 25 years or so.
I watched the movie, Hostiles, on Netflix over the weekend with Christian Bale and Rosemund Pike. I really enjoyed it a lot. Very intense, easy to follow plot, and the acting was phenomenal and not just by the well known actors. You can feel the emotion and gravity of what the characters are going through in there conversations. The movie soundtrack/score was excellent as well during the emotional scenes. Definitely recommend it to anyone
I would recommend the HBO documentary Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind. Learned a lot about the man I didn't know.
I remembered someone in this thread watched this movie. Finally checked it out. It was really good. Takes you in a different direction than you think you're going in for the first part of the movie. I also saw The Old Man and the Gun. Great little movie. Nothing spectacular, but a nice little story and great (as always) performances from Redford and Spacek.
Game Night was absolutely hilarious. I never laughed so much in ages. Everybody was great, Bateman, Meth Damon and special appearance from Dexter! I love this movie
I went to the cinema two nights ago with my wife. We were not sure what to watch and went for Green Book after all. What a beautiful movie it was. Great acting, funny, a very nice soundtrack, just overall a great experience. Probably the best comedy/drama I've watched since The Intouchables (French original from 2011).
Previously the only Tarantino movie I’ve seen was Django. This weekend I finally got around to watching The Hateful Eight, Kill Bill (Vol 1 and 2), and Pulp Fiction. I’ve loved all of them but surprisingly I think The Hateful Eight might be my favorite so far. What should be the next one on my list?
Yeah; I'm torn, as I think Hateful Eight was his worst movie. Basterds and Dogs should probably be next.
Will check out Inglorious Basterds soon. Yeah I’m aware that my high opinion of The Hateful Eight is very unpopular. I feel like I might be biased since I’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and so enjoyed the similar setting. Overall, I think I really liked the mystery aspect of the first half of the movie ... enough to overlook the cartoonish ways that the movie ends up closing out the mystery. Objectively I would agree that Pulp Fiction is a significantly better film, but I probably didn’t enjoy it as much relatively because I knew all they hype surrounding it.
I love Hateful Eight. But I like westerns a lot too, so, who knows. Ranking Tarantino movies for me isn’t a “good to bad” system though, it’s more like a “fantastic to great” system.
I just saw Us. Wasn’t excited. Saw it only because it was Peele. I confess I wasn’t impressed. Really seemed to think itself far more clever than it was. Daughter felt the same way. Anyone else? Thoughts? Considered as a horror film, it was fine. Some funny stuff. Some tense scenes. Good violence, if you’re in to that. Just not especially cerebral or compelling story.
