I'm at the point where every Marvel movie is going to be good but you are just waiting for the next BIG thing. I wasn't excited for this one, it was just another obstacle until Endgame. I thought Brie Larson was fine. I do think the problem we are going to have is how powerful is she really? She's flying through spaceships like they are butter, guess she can turn Thanos into swiss cheese like that. I am glad the use of jokes were better in this one, the timing works and didn't take away from the scene. IMO Ben Mendelsohn killed his role. The de-aging on Samuel L Jackson looked awesome. The problem with doing prequels is that it puts the majority of Phase 1 into question. Things are retconned and answers to questions aren't as big as the questions when they happened. This was Marvel's attempt at giving little girls someone to look up to, unfortunately I think DC did it better with Wonder Woman.
I finally saw this Sunday and I believe I would agree with you, such a fun movie. It took me like 20 mins for my eyes to adjust to the art style, the blurriness of some of the backgrounds felt like watching a 3D movie without the 3D glasses on, but I did eventually adjust. Very much looking forward to the sequel(s?).
In the comics, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) is not nearly as powerful as they are trying to make her in the MCU. They have her on the level of Sentry, Silver Surfer, or even Thor, when this is very very far from reality. In the comics she and Thor fought Thanos with the gauntlet. She was in binary mode and got swatted like a fly, Thor fought to a stalemate against him. Thor is faster, stronger, and more durable, even against her binary mode. I hope endgame is more of her just helping the original Avengers and not dealing the final blow or being the main cause of defeating Thanos.
Freakin GOOSEBUMPS. As for Capt. Marvel... they really couldn't saw some butt implants into that costume? First thing i noticed... zero butt (dissapointed as an "a** man")
I don't know anything about Captain Marvel going in, but I thought that after the first twenty minutes, which were dreadfully boring, it was a good flick. Very enjoyable, and I think she has as much charisma as quite a few of the actors and actresses in the MCU. That said, Sammy stole the show. He was great. That said, she doesn't seem nearly strong enough to make a difference against Thanos.
I went in without any prior exposure to the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel. I only knew the original Mar-Vel Kree who fought Thanos with Adam Warlock and the Avengers. The movie was better than my expectation. Marvel always does pretty well with their origin movies. She was good and SLJ was good. I wasn't a big fan of the refugee twist. I grew up with the Skrulls and so I didn't like them changing the story so much there. But the action was great and the effects were well done. I actually thought the opposite though about her final form strength at the end of the movie. It seemed they made her too strong, and unless Thanos snaps her, I would think she would win a straight up fight.
I didn’t know where else to post this, aside from here or the Star Wars thread, but Disney+ is only going to be $6.99 per month, or you can do an annual plan for $70. I’m all over that. Marvel movies, shows, Star Wars shows, Disney movies, Fox stuff, I’m sold. I thought it was going to be like twice that price because you know, Disney. https://variety.com/2019/digital/news/disney-plus-streaming-launch-date-pricing-1203187007/
